1994 P/U: Idler Arm & Lift identification question
Hi,
It's a new to me '94 22RE w/ a 4inch lift and I was looking to do the idler arm bushing and seal replacement according to the how-to (http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/maintenance/idler/), but when looking at the idler arm on mine, it looks nothing like what it's supposed to be?
The how-to clearly shows that the idler arm has a dust cap which mine obviously does not.
Only thing i can think of is when the previous owner had it lifted, a new part was installed in place of the original idler arm to compensate for the lift.
Anyone ideas?
Sincerely,
Noob.
ps. wsorry for the rotated pic .. im still figuring this out.

That's not the Toyota part. You if it has no play in the arm or the little ball joint at the end, you can just leave it. If it has play or you simply don't like it, you can buy an OEM one new from toyotapartseast.com or a used one from a yard. Some have said that the AutoZone Duralast #FA5040 is better than OEM. I was going to rebuild my OEM one with the bushings like you want to, but the little ball joint at the end has play so it's trash. The ball joint can't be replaced, and the arm has no separate part number from the rest of the assembly.

Its seems you have a rust issue. that is a stock arm. if you have a lift it should have came with a new arm. Mine did, please correct me if im wrong. You should be able to order a bracket and new arm from AN ONLINE 4X4 WEB SITE to many to list. As far as your title goes. I am unable to identify your lift. please post more pics from the front and upper a arms and knuckles.

I'll try to get some pics when daylight comes around.
Yes, it's pretty rusty. I don't think it's to the point of structural fail as of yet, but rebuilding from the frame up is a thought in the far future.
I had a feeling that it wasn't stock as the write-up clearly showed a longer bracket which could fit two bushings. Mine just looks like a bracket for the arm to mount to. I bought the truck used and was told the lift was a skyjacker suspension lift, although the spacer (?) on the front crossmember does say trailmaster.
