1988 pickup oil pressure gauge wiring HELP!

Hey guys! I've browsed the Internet to it deepest depths ask questions all over and looked at 1000"s of unhelpful pictures and diagrams for the info I need! My truck is a 1988 3vze sr5 I'm trying to get the factory oil pressure gauge working. However I cannot find any wiring to even begin to hook the sensor up..I have no unhooked connectors by the dizzy and i have no broken wires anywhere near there as well..is there anyway in the world someone could tell me or show me how the pig tail comes from the oil pressure sensor and hooks up to the main harness?..I have a few unplugged connectors on the drive side fender that aren't hooked up to anything however the colors don't match what the fsm says the sensor wire color should be..I'm frustrated over this! Thanks in advance!

No such plug ..what part of the harness does it come out of?..I have unloomed every portion of the harness that goes to the maf and coil to see if there is a broken wire and there is none..only harness left to check would be the injector harness and for the most part I see no unplugged wires and no broken wires

Also de loomed and rejoined alternator harness..

It should have been in the harness going to the AFM

Coming across the front of the engine in the conduit plastic piece.

No Yellow/ Black Wire??

Is it possible you have a different year Harness or engine??

Even with the install of a manual gauge one does not normally remove the wire from the harness.

If it was me I would just put a manual gauge in and be done .

All my Toyota`s have them.

Here's a pic of the truck just keep it interesting lol..there is no black/yellow wire in that looming ..the harness had not been tampered with to my knowledge until I de loomed it looking for the wire ..that particular harness has 11 wires in it 10 of them go to the maf and the coil and the other one is a ground.

You guys are missing what in saying..the truck has a mechanical gauge installed so I can see the oil pressure.. I'm trying to figure out how to get the gauge cluster oil pressure gauge going ..but for some crazy reason I cannot hook up a oil pressure sensor because I have no wiring for it..a pictures of someone's 3vze oil pressure sensor and the wiring how to route into the harness would be awesome..I've looked at 3 junkyard trucks and everyone of them has had the motor pulled and the harness cut ..

Sorry about that guys I've cross posted this 100 places ..trying to figure out ..there is no blue/yellow?...black/yellow...or even a green/red..it leads me to believe that it was never in the harness to begin with..I took the cluster out and the wire for the oil pressure gauge is yellow/black, so I guess I'm going to trace that wire to its connector by the ecu, that way I can run a new wire from there to the sender with the existing harness..anyone ever done this?

I'm not sure if this is helpful but this weekend I changed the alternator on my '88 pickup (3vze) and noticed a single conductor wire that ran down the side of the engine to some sort of sensor next to the oil filter. I assumed that was the oil sender. It had a retention bracket (broken on mine) that hooked on the back of the alternator. It should be visible with plastic tubing on the intake removed. If that is the oil sender perhaps you could chase it into the loom?

That's definitely a no go..I disconnected everything on that's side ..coil,alternator then pull the harness up out and deloomed to see if the wire was broken within the loom and didn't see anything..

I, too, have a '88 Toyota pickup. I noticed that so far , no one had posted a picture of the oil pressure gauge wire connected to the sending unit. So I crawled under my truck and got a shot of mine. My truck started out as a plain Jane unit with the dumbed down gauge cluster. I was able to secure a SR5 gauge cluster from a '88 4Runner and did the swap. Plug and play suggests that the wiring harness is the same. My wire from the sending unit is YELLOW/BLACK and runs up the side of the block, into the harness section that runs across the front of the motor just behind the timing belt cover.

Thanks for the pic I'm not sure what is going on with my wiring that wire is non existent..I've deloomed the harness on the passenger side of the motor before the plastic piece and after the conduit on the driver side ..my only option left is to unplug everything inside and pull the harness through the firewall and deloom it there to see if the wire is broken ..I can not find a pinout diagram of the connectors though

That is really weird that the wire is not even in there.

Could you tell if the Harness was re wrapped at some time.

I have seen strange things working on there trucks.

I don't think the harness has ever been touch..I'm almost positive of that ..I found a harness on eBay for $225 looks like I'm just going to buy it to have one..
