pics

the truck was made for the minnesota north stars hockey team. I think hockey, am not big sports fan so not sure on that. I pulled it out of the woods. Got it on a trade deal, looks like somebody was going to modify it for something, just cant figure out what. Sorry its not a whole truck. Just remember I just asked about it, never said it was a real cool truck or anything like that. I got everything loaded onto photobucket and then it said photobucket site maintenance and wont go anywhere so as soon as maintenance is done u will get pics.

I have to say that I have not seen one of those. However, I used to own an orange and black 79 mustang Cobra like the one pictured in the background...

I figured it may of had something to do with the old Hockey team. Pretty cool find, too bad the truck isn't in better shape. It would be interesting to see what the trucks looked like in 1986.

Cool truck! It's too bad it's not in better shape. Any plans for it? You should stick with the stripes on the outside!

You got a long road ahead of you.. But its cool! I really like the stripes on the exterior! Maybe that will be my custom paint... (just not those colors)

Holy crap! That is really cool to see, I like the old school hockey stuff. Just seems so weird on a truck. If that was driven by some player I wonder who? I just picture a bunch of them partying it up hard and just bagging the hell out of the truck. Anyway nice find.

It would be nice to see a complete truck like this but where on earth would you find one. anybody want it let me know. thanks

Maybe there are more in Minnesota?
And there are 36 more out there somewhere, hopefully one is still in mint shape.

That is pretty wild. It seems like that it was a dealership or customization company that did that though. It's kinda weird too that they used a DLX for a special edition truck.

There's an optimist in every crowd. I share a bit of it myself.

This "NorthStars" is a cool find. I had VW Vanagon....'84 model...Westfalia camper about 14yrs ago. It had a label on the kitchenette cabinette that said who and where it was customized over in Europe. Some little private job. Don't remember who or where it was done, but I enjoyed the hell out of it.....until I rearended someone who came to a dead stop on the highway. Shoved the steering wheel straight up almost to the roof and the pedals into my legs. Ouch! Needless to say, it was totaled. Bummer....

Its sorta like that 4runner "Special Edition" that was posted on here a while ago that was for sale on Ebay. That was all stickers on that truck, but no custom paint.

Myself, i am excited to see pics and can't wait! The dealerships had a lot of wacky paint schemes done to the trucks to make them more appealing to that weird multi-color 80's crowd.
Hey my truck is a special edition 1st gen. As far as i know they were only available in canada and was another option to getting an SR5. From what i know they came with a custom two tone paint (like mine) and had a few decals on the side and one on the back of the tailgate. They all had AC, SR5 seats and had running boards. Everything else is pretty much DLX trim, including all of them having 22res in them. Mine has been repainted in the orignal paint scheme and the so the painted decals are gone and the one on the tailgate fell of years ago.

As they phased out the 1st gens they put together all sorts of weird parts combos to try to run out the overstocks.

There's your answer as to what it is. I can find mention of Geneva Luxury Motor Vans on the net but no definitive info.

That's a very cool, but worthless find... I would have been all over it too.

Dude.... Northstar has been around since like jeebus times. Remember those three high dudes brought baby jeebus a golden camel or something like that by followin the Northstar? Gotta think way far out man. Totally radical.

The ford dealers in denver used to do similar "special edition" broncos back in the 80's - cool to see it on a toyota!
