Oil Plug Gasket

I swear, every time I get a Toyota oil filter they give me the wrong gasket for the drain plug. Now, it is "free", but.... It's still wrong? The parts guy says the drain plug hasn't changed since 79. Well dang. You can kind of tell it doesn't fit.

Hard to get any idea of scale from that picture. You sure someone before you didn't strip the drain plug and tap it out to a larger size? Should be a 12x1.25.

I don't know where you guys get specific numbers like those but I appreciate it. I'll have to see if they have that other one.

My local Napa said they didn't carry a gasket for my drain plug so I just apply some ultra grey silicone every oil change. Lol

Red face

There is the old style plug

Then the newer smaller plug

Parts people are often wrong on the older engines
