lowering 7 inch lift

hi I purchased my 84 4x4 toyota pick up with a 7 inch spring(skyjacker lift?) the clearance is awesome but the ride sucks and on the high way she is a handful. I have heard good things about OME and am thinking about going down to a 4 inch lift. Will this help with the harsh suspension and maybe my highway handling too? I run 33x12.50 and have bushwacker cut outs so I'm not concerned about clearance. It has a drop pitman arm and the transfer case was lowered about 2 inches with custom drive shafts. I'm hopping I can raise the transfer case back up and swap out springs to solve all my problems. I mainly use my truck for mountain camping around Ouray Co, the trails out here are tough but I don't see any rock crawling trophies in my future. I just want my truck to be a little easier on my ass going down the highway. My main goals are driveability and dependability. Had the truck 10 years and want to keep her forever.

Can you post pics of your current leaf packs showing arch, leaf count, and leaf length stagger? Also - how is the shackle angle? I bet they are practically vertical?

You'll come out a lot cheaper by tweaking your current packs. I bet you can pull a leaf or two (or swap some stock leaves back in) and get the lower height and a better ride out of it.

As to the road handling/ride - different springs won't fix that. I'd seriously consider crossover steering, IMHO it's a worthy upgrade.

[/PHP]G]Thanks for the reply david. I took a few photos but can't get em posted on here. I took em with a digital camera and it looks like yota tech only excepts photos with web adresses? I can email em I know that works.

Depending on the number and thickness of leaves in the packs, you may find that pulling one or two thicker, lower leaves drops your height and softens your ride. The down side is that they'll be more inclined to wrap, but if it's a DD and light wheeler, it should be ok.
