Crossmember bolts
While taking out the tranny we discovered 1 and possible 2 (we might be able to get one back in) crossmember bolts we cross-threded and now striped. Would it be safe to put it back in with 6 or 7 bolts or am I going to have to get that nut out of the frame rail and try and get a new one in?

Well...the right answer is that you should find a way to get them all in. I ran into the same issue and I'm missing two bolts. I've put about 10,000 miles on in the year since then and whenever I get under the truck and give it a good shake it still seems solid. I'd like to get those two bolts back in...but it seems solid and I've got more pressing issues with the truck.
I'd say if they are both on the same side...I wouldn't want to run it with only two bolts on one side. But if they're on opposite sides...maybe not such a big deal. I would guess that there are 8 for a reason, but...
