I was gonna do something like that then I got to thinking.............................
I needed cheap and strong. I broke my last plastic POS several times and so with that, I decided to run an ammo can. I havent figured out a cup holder setup on it yet and doubt I will but it provides a TON-O-STORAGE compared to the old one and it is actuall tall enough to use as an armrest while I am waiting on all the Heeps to get through the obstacles. Oh and its water resistant more than anyother console type thing I have looked into.
I am going to mount my leather belt slide holster inside the can on the drivers side of the can so that I can carry my Sig with me on the trails. I will do it with something like a bolt and wing nut set up so its quick and easy to take out and into the house when I am home from wheelin.

What kind of ammo can did you use?
I have an old .50 cal can but it's a little on the short side. Your picture shows one that looks to be a bit bigger.

I will read the side and post tomorrow to let you know for sure.
I know it was a Fuse Box ammo can. I would say it is around 10"s to a foot deep and 6-8 inches wide, also it is probablly 10-12"s from front to back. I like the lid better cause it is hinged in the back, not a complete removable lid and it has the rubber seal in it to keep it dry. I can stick a ton of stuff in it.
