22re getting hot

last weekend i replaced my timing chain, water pump, guides, and radiator. all new stuff and the radiator is aluminum. i set the timing to 6 degrees. today i put a new t-stat in and filled the block before i put it back in. it will get hot while driving mostly. i did have a few days when i didn't use the heat when it didn't get warm. and yes i am aware of the getting hot when you turn on the heat. i have run the truck without the cap and had a couple air bubbles, bubbled out fluid when that happened. i checked the compression today, 180,180,175,175. i'm still not ruling out a head gasket yet. i just read a bunch of threads but no answers to most. the truck is 85 22re.
thanks in advanced.
