Yep, for bit there, everything you replace will show you something else you need to replace. If I had just replaced my engine & tranny, it would have been expensive, but not too bad...but there are so many things you run into that just really aught to be replaced if you've gone this far.

It does eventually slow down! (but doesn't really ever end...)

I tend to replace everything I can if I can afford it. Lately I have been pretty poor so some things go passed up which I know will come back to haunt me. Either or my 22R is ready to be dropped in the truck. I just need to get some help if I can. Anyways here are a few odd picks of things I did today.

Here is a set of new/old 15-8 chrome rims. They need a little TLC but as u can see in one the pics they shine up nice and that was a quick go at it. Not too bad for 50 bucks if ya ask me.

Thanks bud I sure hope this guy comes by today to help me drop this engine in. If I can get it in then I can have it running tonight. I think ill put my truck on stands and go have the tires mounted this morning.
Shes getting there. Now I just need to get new 3-4" springs.

what is good is the lack of gunk build up in the head. Its It shows me that engine prob doesnt have that many miles on it. The person I got the motor off was running the truck out in the red dirt with a cut off exaust so I know he was running it pretty hard. Lets hope not too hard.
Anyhow I have a friend coming over tomorrow to help me drop the motor in. So by tomorrow afternoon at the latest I will know if its good.
Got my chrome rims cleaned up and mounted my bfg 31-10.5s on them. Looks really nice. I left my camera in the truck and too lazy and tired to get it.

ELBOW GREASE !!! lol
Naw I used a lot of Castrol super clean and then I let it sit for a little while. Then well the steam cleaner did the rest. Beyond just getting the oil and dirt off I use a high speed grind and thin wired wheels to make it look like chrome. Take a lot of patience but when your done it looks sweet. At least I think so.

Thanks I think I need to take meds for OCD since I spent way too much time cleaning this engine lol Do love how cheap parts are for these motors.

Heck I found a rebuilt 22r head for 150 bucks on craigslist. Sooo tempted to pick it up.

Ok well I put a little more work into the engine before I put it in so here is a couple of pics of new editions.

Here is a few pics of engine installed and sorta running. I had some issues with a coolant pipe under the intake manifold that took some time to fix. Then I had to try and fix an exaust leak where manifold meets downpipe which turns out I just need new seals. Fun part of it all is I need to replace the o ring on oil pump. It was pinched when installed sooo its leaking pretty bad. I was able to run then engine to get it warm and do a compression check and best I can tell its around 170. I was so tired by then I couldnt be sure and I havent driven the truck due to oil leak. Tomorrow I will fix both exaust and oil leaks then take her out for a spin to see if it really does run stronger. Besides that LONG damn day.

Ok so I took her out for my 1st test drive since getting engine in. Seems to run stronger then last motor but its very hard to tell. I do know I pretty much solved all the little issues I had yesterday. Just need to swap the alt since the bearing is shot and I am ready for mondays smog test I think
