I put truck in 1st and it don't move

Hey there, pretty much just that, I have an 83 with a 4 speed tranny, not sure which one, but I know they are not stock in 83, Anyway yea just put it in 1st and it doesn't move when I let out the clutch, in fact I don't even have to push in the clutch at all, there are no noises, no grinding, no howling, no nothing

Maybe a quick fix...anyway to tell??
thanks

I doubt it's this, but I somehow got the transfer case into neutral on my old scout once, and it confused the heck out me, and of course wouldn't move.

Will it move at all in another gear?

I'm struggling to come up with any explaination that isn't broken mechanicals in the gearbox. I just don't see how it could be anything but a broken tranny.

Sounds like it's drivable usind 2nd - 4th, but it might be worth draing the tranny to look for metal chunks. If anything is floating around in there it could cause a lot more trouble.

Yeah. Sounds like a stripped gear to me. Looks like we are going to need a rebuild!
