Help identify this vacuum part

83 Toyota truck, 22R. Problem is misfire, I found this vacuum line coming from the intake connected to this little sensor thing (one wire- green, blk stripe) its called Vac S/W on the Engine Vacuum Hose Information sticker under the hood. It's located on the fender well just behind the battery.

Anyways, when I disconnect it and plug it, I get no more misfires! What does it do, is it needed for SMOG? Thanks,

It will be either in the fuel shutoff system or the air suction/fuel feedback control system

Beats me what all that crap does, so I desmogged my engine and plan to run a Weber.
