Glass pack?

This might be a dumb question so laugh away if need be.

I've got a 22R in my 82. Just picked up a header for it with a 2 1/4 dump, I've got a glass pack sitting around from my old rig.
What I'm thinking is either header to stright pipe to glass pack (no cat) or header to high flow cat to glass pack.

Will the truck sound like crap or like a rice rocket with either of these set ups?

It will sound like a rice rocket untill you let off the gas and then it wil snap, crackle, and pop. Just depends on what you like.

Don't run without a cat, I've already got several friends poisoning me in the name of horsepower. Plus it will sound like trash without it, and stink.

It is a 4cyl engine, I don't think you can truly avoid the ricer sound at some rpm's. The flowmaster mufflers seem to have a good reputation amongst the 22re owners I know.

i put a glass pack on and hated it, same engine, in an 80 i bought a 20 dollar thrush muffler put a turn down on it and put it right after the header, because im cheap. and it was nice and low. I know run a dynomax cat back but plan to build a header back exhaust.

I disargee personally.
If the exhaust is a good one that's set up right a rice rocket won't sound like shat, imo.

I'm interested in what the Hushpower will sound like. I've heard one on my cousin's Heep. I've also heard a 50 series on an 22RE.

I've got a Holley 2 bbl carb, an Edelbrock intake and header with 2 1/4" outlet for the truck so that should effect the sound some.

I also have a glasspack on my 3.0...i think it sounds pretty awesome. I get compliments on my truck a lot. It sounds like a strong running truck. Not like a ricemobile.

My exhaust has changed a lot..if I have some time ill post a new video

There is more motor and wind noise in that. It doesnt sound like i revved it past 3k. It sounds real nice at idle and at 3k+ ..As you can tell i had the cam in one and and was shifting with the other..I could exactly do anything crazy haha

I run thorley headder to Magnaflow high flow cat, and then a Magnaflow mufler which is basicly just a glasspack. I dont think it sounds anything like a ricer, even under load at high rev's. About as bassy as a four popper can get.
It is fun setting off car alarms when I punch it up a hill though.

Buy a decent muffler your neighbors will thank you. Why anyone wants to drive around with their rig sounding like a UPS truck is beyond me.

The UPS truck sounds sweet.

I kid.

As for my neighbours....I won't answer that one either.
I'm trying to find a good price on a Flowmaster Hushpower 2 locally. If not I might buy it from Summit or just get a 40 series.

On my 22r I have a cherrybomb glasspack and i think it sounds pretty good. a throaty deep tone at about 1500-2000 rpm other than that sounds very ricey. I'm not totally against ricey though, it's unique hardly anyone around here (iowa) has a ricey sounding lifted truck. I've noticed all 22r series motors have sounded canny, feel free to disagree
