35+ - You should proabably think about SAS (if you don't have it already) and even if you do, a bigger ring gear would be more suited for andthing lower than 5.29 as the gear teeth get smaller the higher the gear numbers go. Switching to LC axles or even larger would be much stronger.

31's- 4.88

35's- 5.29
Same as above for larger than 35
The reason I say 4.88s for 33's with an auto. If you get 5.29s it will be too low and highway speeds will be hard to do. just live with the 4.88 power or go back to 31s, or if you must get 5.29s, get some 35's

Autos are normally geared next step lower than manuals.
Don't believe the hype that 5.71's are weak.

I read that in 80 the trucks got 4.37s, would 5.29s be bad for 33s? they are only temporary, but i dont wanna do 4.88s, then switch over to 5.29s a month later.

I still stand by my chart. I wouldn't use 5.71s in an 8" diff. I would not use 5.29s and 33s on an auto, you should just deal with it, and have 4.88s, or just get 35s.

Not tryin' to beat a dead horse but... one of the local 4x4 shops told me that 5.29's were too high and that 4.88's would be better. So I checked with another local 4x4 shop and they told me that 5.29's are too low and that the 5.71's would better suit me. I told both shops that I'm running the stock 22R/5 speed with 35" tires. Should I just take it from other Yoter owners and stick with the 5.29's like I planned?

It has 7" or lift on 33's. At some point he will want to put on 35's but since this is a daily driver I tinks that's as high as I would like for him to go. It seems as if 4.88's or 5.29's are both gonna work depending on how quickly he plans on getting up to the 35's.
My question is......since we're doing all this work shouldn't I go with lockers? I don't mind spending the money but I would like advice on what brand to go with and where would be the best place to purchase them.

LOL, no doubt good torque! I realize I'm in the wrong section for my rig, but seeing as how there was already a thread from a while back and the rigs aren't much different; figured I'd get some more opinions.
I've got a W56 5spd and am rarely at interstate speeds so...
Wanting to eventually be at 35's hence the reason for 5.29's but I just bout can't pass this deal up!

It doesnt matter how big of a lift you got. Its all in what size tire your running and what kind of driving you do. But if you go by what I put above you will be fine.

I have been trying to find someone to help me install a set of 5.29s on my 3RZ SR5. I have 33s now, but i plan on utilizing 35s. SAS is out of the question for now, but SAS'd Toy advised me some good sources.
