22RE swap for 79
Ok, I searched, but I could not find what I wanted to do. I have enjoyed reading on here, but now I need help. I have a 79 pickup and the old 20r is tired and cant pass smog (I live in Cal). I have a 22RE out of an 84 pickup that I want to put in. Is this a straight foward swap? The trans/transfer case should bolt up and motor mounts should be the same. What else is there? The one thing I'm worried about is the somg stuff. Is it all on the block? The only thing that I'm missing is the computer. Will one off a 85 work, or must it be a 84 computer? Is there anythig else? Thanks.

The computer must be off an 84 since 84 uses P7/EFI instead of TCCS which is used from 85 on. Also, there is a difference between computers for manual and automatic transmissions, make sure you get the correct one for your application.
Keep an eye on eBay; I see them pop up often.
