86-89 Truck - Dorman replacement Wiper Arms 42857, 42858
I broke / lost the plastic bit that cover the bolt on the end of the wiper arm.
Also, after 25+ plus years, the the wiper arms were rather rusty.
They seemed to function OK, but as I was getting the 4Runner ready for semi regular use, I wanted it to a bit nicer.
Yeah - I had sanded and painted them before.
But now, far older, I have less time (and can afford to outsource the labor vis a vis new parts)
I looked up and ordered the plastic cap - every cross look up claimed that this part was it.
Dorman 49460 Windshield Wiper Arm Cover, Pack of 2
BUT - the picture on Amazon is correct.
And the cover, while it "fits", is not the correct bolt cover.
So I took the more expensive route
Dorman 42857 - Passenger side wiper arm
Dorman 42858 - Drivers side wiper arm
I got mine from Summit Racing
PERFECT fit and match.
I had to "bend" the metal arm part a tiny bit - but that IMHO is expected with wiper arms.
It looked perfect, but the wipe pattern showed un even pressure, so I tweaked it and now its perfect.
Other than the price ($30+ each), these were "OEM" look and fit.
And hopefully I get another 20 years out of em!
