Those aren't dorky at all, those are amazing pictures! Great story too...you shoulda posted up that you were coming out here, (or maybe you did and i missed it) we woulda met up with you and run mosquito or something...
Anyway, very, very cool trip, and hope you liked Moab, you should come out to wheel soon. Lots of good trails for your runner out there. Thank you for sharing.

I see no dorks in this report, sorry. Excellent (FUN) report and photos! This is what it is all about! Beautiful family and cool choice of vehicles to get you to the adventure.
There is more to life than crawling on rocks and gunning it through mud :bigclap:

Awww, shucks guys, thanks!
![]() I saw a bunch of really cool yotas and other trucks out there and wondered if any of them were yotatechers too. If you saw a light blue 3rd gen it might've been me. Unless it did something to piss you off....then it wasn't!

Out of curiosity, which ruin did you tour at MV? You mentioned climbing ladders, so my guess is balcony house. I went there for the 1st time this summer, and that is the ruin I decided on. It was really interesting and a beautiful place. I plan to go back and see some more.

Yeah, balcony house was the one. I agree, the whole area is really interesting...wonder what made them abandon the idea so quickly?

Looks like an adventure full of "Stop touching me!", "You're on my side of the seat!" and "Are we there yet?"
![]() No, seriously. Looks like it'll be one of those times the family still talks about 10 years from now. Loved the pics! Thanks for the story.

This is the dorkiest thing I have ever seen! j/k Seriously, great pics and story. It was cool to see some of the places that we missed on our summer trip and reminded me of some of the things we did. There is no way my wife would hike that much though, kudos to you. That first part of the trail leaving from Ouray to engineer pass is really cool.

Would love to wheel with y'all too.....but we had no itinerary, just a very basic idea of where we'd be and winged it from there. My favorite way to travel. This is my 8th trip out to CO and 5th to Moab but the first for my husband's daughters. Next time I'll have to try to have a better idea of the wheres/whens so I can bother some of you to show me where to go. I miss mountain biking out there most...waiting for my son to get big enough....but got more than a little bite in the butt for the wheeling on this trip for sure.

Wow, you went to The Great Sand Dunes and Zapata falls? I grew up about 45 minutes from there and I try to make it to Zapata falls during the spring and rapel down the falls when they are still frozen.
Awesome trip, story and pics.

Great pics! My 3 year old walked the whole thing and climbed both the ladder in and the steps on the way out by himself.....with me shadowing him, arm loosely about his middle. We did do Sand Dunes and Zapata Falls. I didn't get to check out the actual falls this time 'cause I took the boyo in as far as I could without too much chance of slipping and falling, but I did get to see them 4 years ago in early July....really cool. My husband took his girls up to see it though. The whole area is scenic in various ways, though I admit the valley to be a bit.....flat ....which direction were you 99_runner?

awesome trip-- love the pics-- That balcony house has a slight resemblance to Montezumas castle in Az. Can't wait until I start taking the little guy on trips like that. He's only 2 weeks old though.
