On a 3rd Gen V6 Runner, Can you swap out an auto tranny with a manual without many problems? Or does it require a lot of extra's to do?

I am about done in Iraq and due home soon and I am constantly searching for a manual 3rd Gen 4runner and they seem few and far between. So I was wondering about swapping the tranny's. I found a 96 with a factory rear locker, but it is an auto. And for towing, trail playing, lifting etc... I want a manual.

Thanks!!

You can swap in a 3.4 5spd from a TACOMA, much more plentiful

Yes, I am aware of the search options. I am in Iraq with an internet connection that is slower than 56K. Searching is not really an option for me here. It takes forever just to load this page and post a Q. No way I can sit and open page after page looking for an answer. Sorry.

BTW. "Use the search" Nazi's are never appreciated.

Thank you Waskillywabbit..

i'm thinkin of this too. i'm sure it will be just like any other car, not much computer control on the maunual so no worries there.

from swaping out on honda's, this is what i'm assuming

clutch pedal, (might have to drill holes, maybe)
optional shorter break pedal.
master cylinder
slave cylinder
manual flyweel with clutch and pressure place
manual tranny w/ thrust bearing
clutch hydralic lines (i think we use hydralic)
possbily th drive shaft
different diff due to ratio
