I have a 20 yr old Toyota Cressida that I use to drive for work. I've been noticing a gasoline odor when I have the a/c system set on fresh air. I also notice the odor before I start the car. Once, after releasing the pressure on the gas tank, the car didn't start easily.

Suggestions, anyone?

fuel
I think you have fuel leak some where cheak the fuel lines ,fuel pump, and the carb. I had the same thing happen on my old toy truck the fuel pump was leaking, but only when the moter was running. PS, WELCOME TO THE FORUMS

Thanks for the welcome. The system is fuel injected and I have checked the lines pretty carefully and looked under the car to see if I could see any fuel, all to no avail. The reason I think it might be connected to the evaporative emissions is that when I released the pressure at the gas cap, the car died. I don't think this is normal. Today, I released the cap pressure and will see if I still have the fumes in the morning. If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear.
