Well i ahve a burning valve in my number 2 cylinder, and i think its getting worse by the day. this weekend i will get a new head so i can build it up and then swap heads on weekend. I run my truck pretty hard in the dirt so i would like to get some beefier components. I know for sure i want to upgrade the cam, i would appreciate if i could get some tips towards picking on or even some peoples feedback who have upgraded. are there also any bigger valves i could get?

Deffinately get the engnbldr street RV head and cams. IIRC they are worth about 35HP and everyone I know of is very happy with them. They are made from new castings with better cooling and a beefier where needed. Can't beat the price either.

i wouldn't say 35hp by itself, but it's a good unit and a great base to build on to if you want to build a performance engine.
ok i have a new head. here is the plan. My current job i test and asemble hydro. airplane parts so i have the materials needed to port and polish the head, and the materials will polish it very fine, almost mirror like. I would like to get oversized valves from engbldr and the rv cam and possibly skim cut the bottom of the head to raise compression. all in all what would you think the HP gain would be?

Thats a hard question. I know that Ted gets 150hp average out of them when he built them but I think there is more to his head then just a P&P. If you build it right you should get around that mark. Here is a write-up that he did on the 22r(e):
