I know this isn't a common question but has anyone swapped out their factory seat covers, either cloth or leather?

I purchased a set of covers from leather seats dot com and was wondering if there was a write up for what I should expect during the job. I see videos for newre models but not surprisingly there is not much out there for the second gen.

Even a write up for a cloth-to-cloth swap would be helpful. Just looking for an idea of what I'm getting into.

Are you talking about add on covers or upholstering the seats??

Upholstering seats you could not pay me enough to even attempt

I do know leather is hot in the summer and cold in the winter

Reupholstering. I purchased leather covers for mine which require removing the factory cloth covers and putting these leather ones on. You mention it being cheap, how much are you talking about?

Here you can get an idea on how to tackle the swap, 1st gen. 4runner should be similar to 2nd. gen. 4runner.

You'll need "hog rings" and a "hog ring plier"
I suppose, if you were cheap. you could modify a pair of pliers with a disc grinder to work..... just get the pliers

You'll need some end cutters to cut apart the old hog rings to get the OEM cover off

And lots of cursing and sweating to suff the seat foam into the new cover
