So the trucks been making this funny noise, which doesnt sound good at all.... but I havent really cared cause i can make it stop. BUT i am curious as to what is causing it. It doesnt make the noise with the hub unlocked in 2wd or with the hub locked in 4wd, it only makes the noise with the hub locked in 2wd. Basically the front is spinning, but no power transfer. The noise is definately coming from the wheel area (passenger side), but i cant determine exactly where. It sounds like a grinding noise, and is intermitten, not dependent on speed. However if you hit a bump, it increases the odds of the noise appearing. The spindle, hub, and wheel bearings have all been changed, and the noise existed both before and after the change.

Anyone have any ideas?

i got to readin it a little better, so that almost makes it seem like spindle bushings are out of the ? then don't it? but you described the exact thing my ol' yota does perfectly, every detail. so maybe it isn't even my spindle bushings? but UKMyers seemed so confident.

Mine just started doing this this weekend...But it is on my drivers side. Its so annoying, and sometimes its gets rediculously loud. It is that howling, grinding sound as you mentioned.
