Its got the wrong distributor in it, the distributor has no vacuum advance on it, so its off a 22RE engine, and the vacuum advance hoses are wrapped around the oil filler cap.

That's half the fun in a used car!

nope its not running, and it does have a bit of a vacuum problem too. I gotta runn the carb real rich to keep that thing at idle. It runs perfect though. The only problem is its leaking oil like hell, but only when its running. I gotta degrease and steam clean the motor so i can find the source. UHGGG

Also, what are your suggestions and more comments about that distributer.

You need to find a distributor that has a duel diaphragm vacuum advance on it, it has to be from a carbed 22R, the 22RE`s don`t have a vacuum advance bacause its controled by the computer.

Meaning it WON'T advance. Will run like crap at higher rpms. You need the correct dizzy. lol

Hahaha, i wired a new channel for that thing so i could use it on my ipod. And it worked. But then i built a box for two 9 inch speakers and put them in the back, that radio fried so fast it wasnt even funny. I put a little too much juice to it i guess ..... Thnx for the info.

Eh, stock radios are something you'd keep in a 55 Bel Air anyway. JVC makes decent CD players. Went trail riding in my Yota at Stonyford for 4 hours and it only skipped once (and it wasn't even on the part where I got air!).

I used to have an 86 that looked just like that, except gray interior. I got to the point where I could gun it and turn the wheel and slide the truck sideways like there was no tomorrow. Used to always piss the honda guys off in the area because they would show off in their car and I'd just say "Bet my slow old toyota can do something you can't.", would turn the truck sideways in a turn and they would just stare. Had one guy in a Honda try and do it also by yanking his e-brake. He turned sideways alright, slammed into a street drain. The bill he totaled up to was, two new rims, two new struts, two new shocks, broken strut brace, bent strut mounting locations, two new rotors, and new brakes.

P.S. I don't suggest doing stupid stuff like I did But I'll admit I did it and also admit that I wouldn't prolly do it now that I am a little older. Plus now it seems like every time I do something wrong, there is a cop sitting there to catch me. I ragged on the truck I had so badly and it took any punishment went a smile. That thing will literally last you forever if take halfway decent care of it.

That's funny that you guys mentioned that...brings back memories. My first vehicle ever was a truck just like the one pictured above, but off-white. It had aftermarket wheels and tires that were way too wide and stuck out about 3 inches from the fenders. I worked at the mall, and in the rain I could do an e-brake slide for about 20 parking spots...the wide stance made it even more stable.

Great truck. I always tell my wife that our kids' first vehicle will be an '84 2WD Toyota pickup...I'm sure there will still be plenty around by then.
