My truck's high beams will not cycle back to low beams.
I removed the columm and steering wheel to get at the combo switch, it actually looked pretty good but I filed the contacts and hit it with some contact cleaner anyway. (per 4crawler.com, thanks RB!)
The high beam relay is working, if I remove it with the lights on they turn off completly.
If I get the combo switch in just the right position the lights will go out and then immediatly switch back to high beams.
What can I do to get full functionality or at least disable the high beams and only use the low's. I thought about simply re-aiming them down so I don't blind folks.
I called the dealer and they want 223.00 for a special order switch!!

We offer them up (whole complete assy ready to install) for much less than $223!!
btw....what they sell you is the light switch side only, and you have to de-pin the wiring and re-pin the new switch in. Its a real pain the the butt!!

Have you checked the fuse for the low beam lights? I use to have a 90 nissan 300zx that I ran higher watt bulbs in that would pop the fuse after about 4-5 months and when it did that my low beams and parking lights would go out but my high beam would come on untill I put a new fuse in.

I have not checked the fuse...I'll hit that in the morning...how gay would that be? Pull the columm just to have a bad fuse.Have you checked the fuse for the low beam lights? You might try replacing the head light relay, when i got my truck a few months ago the headlights would only work on high beams, it turned out to be a bad head light relay. I got another one from pic n pull and put it in and all was goot again.

My Datsun z-car would only work on high beams years ago. Took it to a Nissan dealer, they had 4 guys on it for about 3 hours and they couldn't figure it out. Well, one night my girlfriend turn to put something in the hatch from the seat and she push on the upper carpet with her feet while doing so and I noticed a change in the lights. So I found there was a main harness plug for the lights under the carpet on that side and it was corroded from where a bypass hose on the heater core burst about 2 years prior. Short version- might be a bad connector somewhere in the harness.
If all the combo switch contacts close and open normally (i.e. none of the contacts are welded shut), then you may have a short to ground someplace along the wiring between the switch and the lights. Since the lights come on when either the high or low beam side is grounded (by the combo switch), any short to ground in that wiring will cause that light to come on all the time:
