right now on my 82 im pretty sure the suspension lift is the 5'' from skyjacker. i can clear my q buckshots fine but id like to go bigger mainly just for looks. i was wondering if there are any companies that make taller than 5 or 6 inch springs for the early models. if not, can i put the tallest springs i can find plus good shackles? my last question is, can i go ahead and do away with the sway bar, i see that is one of the main things holding me back from installing taller springs on the truck, along with the steering. any help and tips would be appriciated. sorry for the newbie question, im just not sure what all is out there for the early models. thanks.

don't forget front drive line angle. If you go too tall upfront your front drive shaft will give you problems unless you have a custom shaft build. You always have the option to trim your fenders too...
The springs seem kind of short to me and IMO if you get a ton of arch to them, your rough ride is just gonna get rougher. but if you have your heart set on taller springs check out your local spring shop for a custom set...

a body lift is always an option. I know some people don't like them but I have had no problems with mine at all.

Hysteer will help you, but you need to get an ifs steering box, mount it up and then install the hysteer. For lift i would say just add some shackles and a body lift. Unless you want to call up alcan and tell him your needs.
thanks alot, i think ill just look into some shackles for now then maybe a body lift. stiff ride doesnt bother me but i did forget about the driveline angles. who carries some good shackles?

Allpro, Marlin Crawler, Trail Gear, 4Crawler, Sky-Manufacturing just to name a few.

skyjacker makes a 7" kit for the 79-83 trucks (and 84-85 trucks/4runners)Originally Posted by bigyota36

what size are "q buckshots"
how huge are you going if u need the tallest springs AND shackles? but if u do go with shackles, i recommend Downey, AllPro, Marlin Crawler
and if your that big, i would ditch the swaybar completely, as with 7-10"s of lift, ur not going to be pulling any high speed maneuvers.
4banginrunner, q buckshots are about 35'' tall. i wont go bigger than a 36, just want to go as tall as possible for the hech of it i guess. im 6'4 so the normal ''tall'' isnt that tall to me, plus i just like the look of alot of ground clearance and a big suspension lift. anyway thanks for the responses, ill just look into the shackles.
