ok..so we got the '80 put back together...i took it out on the highway...and tried to turn into a driveway to turn around.....and it wouldnt hardly turn...its VERY VERY VERY hard to steer..no matter what speed...what could this be...part of my steering stuff...(im not exactly sure what it is) is hitting a U-bolt (for the leaf springs) on the driver side...im wondering if this is the problem..if not...please give me some stuff to check..i need to be driving it tomorrow...thanks!

There is an adjuster screw on top of the manual steering box (is it manual steering?) if it is you can loosen it up with a wrench then take a flat head screw driver and loosen it out then tighten the nut up with the wrench. Its pretty easy.

yes its manual steering...i'll try both of those..idk why its hard to steer...it was fine when it was parked 3 months ago..and it turns fine with the tires off...idk what it would be hard to turn with them on there...

What is the tire pressure set at on the front tires?

Tire pressure makes a HUGE difference when it comes to manuals steering boxes.

Have you checked the gear oil level in the steering box? It may have leaked out.
