Tuned up the engine yesterday - new cap, plugs and wires - no luck. Took it to the shop this morning - diagnostics showed bad #6 cylinder compression test showed 90 lbs - all others 150 lbs. DAMN !!!! I contacted Orient - they authorized a cylinder leak down test and we will go from there. I am 2 years into their 3 year warranty on the long block. It may cost me some money but Orient seems like they will share the cost. Could be a head gasket / burnt valve or a damaged ring & cylinder. No noise though and I didn't notice any loss of power. Othe damage includes a broken sway bar (rear), dented gas tank, mashed rear bumper - again, tail pipe mashed - again and lots of mud and dirt. We have the technology - we can build it better than before ! Thank god for some warranty. I hope. Had a blast though ! I hope you get it fixed on their nickel...and soon! :guitar: |

Monica is still talking about what a great time she had !
Ernie and Alison kept her tuned up with the Margarita's. The parts list is on hold until I get this engine fixed. The 3.0 is living up to the reputation. Just last week I was bragging on how well it has been running. The #6 cylinder is where the exhaust gases gather from the cross over pipe - Headers may be my next mod. |
Hope it works out Doc!
For those talking about the ledges, I've only driven up the far left, middle right and far right, leaving the far right as the main path that most people do. I have climbed up the middle, but due to lack of breakover height I could never pull up and over it. I think if I had tried it after doing my drivetrain lift and flattening the undercarriage I could have been closer, but still don't know if it would have been enough. Chris |
Damage report for me is, a HUGE dent in my gas tank, prolly from being hung on it at Fains Ford. Also, dented the TJM pretty good, pushed the pass. side right into the body and bent a body panel or two. I also managed to put a good dent in the new BudBuilt skids, tore up the drivers side LTD cladding and the mystery noise that happens only when I put the truck in reverse, sounds like a driveshaft rattle or like it's hitting something, ah well, so is another weekend in Tellico....
Lets do it AGAIN. :great: |
I think I got some dirt in my floor boards and a bungee chord scratched my door when I put the tarp on one night.

It's amazing how much those trails change over the course of a year. This was from last year's run:

:guitar:  THANK YOU! PM me & I'll replace the parts you used. I also owe somebody a birf, Will I think? I get names confused, sorry. http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e1...3/IMG_0040.jpg Notice how good that slider adapter looks on that Hi-Lift, go ahead & put me down for one Brian. I'll PM you. I will have all my pics uploaded to the SE4RJ3 Gallery by tomorrow. Sorry, been a busy first of the week. |
I never did understand how you got such a flexy rear axel Chris, it seemed like a pretty typical set-up. Those pics seem to compete pretty well with what I saw Brett's rig do this year, go figure.

Has anybody tried to use the FJ Trailteam ID card they were given to see the pics they took yet?
I go to the site & put my card # in, and it just redirects me back to the login. I guess they haven't got them posted yet. |

Scott, I think part of the reason is that I had stock coils front and rear with spacers, no OME stuff to make the springs stiffer and prevent the flex.
Brett, it sounds like you need to drop down in rear coil stiffness a tad, then maybe run some air shocks to compensate when towing, because it sounds like your current rear setup is much stiffer that the front, which is why you couldn't back up any further without lifting a wheel. Basically the weight of your truck wasn't enough to compensate for the stiffness difference between your front and rear setup, basically. Chris |

Chris Yeah, I know it, the cruiser coils would be great with airbags. Andy-how hard are those airbags to install? |
Good explination :great:
|
Actually, he bought my airbags, but you might want to consider finding a right Monroe Air shock to replace your LC shocks of the same length or do the airbags that Andy has now.

I worked on some slider adapters tonight as a matter of fact, as I'm a bit behind on filling orders due to SE4RJ3, but that's just wheeling. :) That is a mighty fine shot of a slider adapter too! :great: :guitar: |
