scanner and cb pics?

does any one have a pic of a police scanner and a cb in your rig? idk were to mount them both

90inworks Dec 9, 2007 06:36 PM

any one im trying to figure out were to mount them

MMA_Alex Dec 9, 2007 06:39 PM

just got 1 radio myself. probably will end up with a cb eventually too. I know some people mounted multiple radios in their center console.

just a heads up in some states having a scanner that can pickup police frequencies is illegal, and a large fine (I know for a fact NY is one of em, but im not sure what other states)

i cant rember on the 3rd gen pickups, but second gen ones have a double decker stereo and you can replace it with a single height stereo and have room to put a cb in with your stereo or i have seen people mount them on the passenger side on the glove box and in the center console. sorry i dont have any pics but i have seen them in these places.

ok well that is the only thing i hate about the yota is there is no room for stuff like that... its legal here in washington my dads on the fd and got one in his truck i like listening to every thing thats goin on...

I got my cb, a smaller cobra mounted where the ashtray was and if you have a pocket under the cd/tape deck you can place a large cb or scanner there.

yea i couldnt get my cb to stay in the ash tray spot..i got the gap in the dash but i would have to drill/cut holes to run wires

You may have to drill/cut something anyway. The CB should fit in the ashtray, it may take a little convincing though....as for the radio in the DIN slot, that'll depend on the size of the radio

Here's the thread I started to show where I mounted my cb. Although I don't have both a scanner and a cb, maybe this will help you figure out how to mount your stuff.

Maybe you can mount one in the dash and the other like this:

I was just hassling you about your pic. I havent yet figured out where to mount my scanner but Im putting a cb aux speaker on the driver side B pillar and a scanner speaker on the pass B pillar

CJM Dec 9, 2007 08:35 PM

Yea, you need to give the ashtray a little trim width wise. I Bolted mine in using the supplied bracket into the dash panels and amazingly its pretty strong.

90inworks Dec 9, 2007 08:37 PM

ok well i think i might mount my cb were my sunvisor pivets (i dont use it any ways) and the scanner mounted under the radio if it will fit....and as far as the pic lol no comment its getting changed as we speak

sh0kk86 Dec 9, 2007 09:52 PM

Remote mount CB

Scanner on an "arm"

Tho if I were doing ti today Id get a Uniden BCT-15 with the remote head.

Also if you have a "ham" license - it reduces the hassle factor if you get stopped with the scanner.
