Slacker I bow to you're awsomeness!! I have been kicking the idea around of doing something like this to a 91 that I can pick up pretty cheap. Love the custom frame, and I will be stalking this thread like a psyco ex girlfriend on meth!!!!

slacker 10-26-2011 03:47 PM

thanks ..

found some time today , so I finally cut the floor out for the body drop

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1310.jpg

.

slacker 10-28-2011 04:18 PM

prepping the inner rockers for the new body mounts .. I of course found rust :( .. so now I have to fix that first .. I was really surprised , this cab was in awesome shape no rust at all , or so I thought .. just goes to show you , even if you think you have no rust .. you probabally do !!

undercoating wire wheeled off , and looking great

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1312.jpg

and cut out rust !!

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1311.jpg

slacker 10-29-2011 03:55 PM

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1313.jpg

.

slacker 10-31-2011 04:07 PM

also got the drivers side cleand and prepped this weekend

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1315.jpg

and :( .. drivers side has rust as well

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1316.jpg

I think to be safe , i'm going to cut it all out .. front and back rocker area , and strengthin both sides before I build the body mounts
and just for some giggles ..
heres the pile of removed edging and ground steel ..

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1314.jpg

.

TinMan 10-31-2011 06:48 PM

Yep cut that crap out. You know the deal. If you skip it, it will haunt you later.

slacker 11-01-2011 04:33 PM

absolutly ..

yotasavg 11-02-2011 10:44 AM

yotasavg 11-02-2011 10:48 AM

went back and reread the beginning, now it all makes sense, idk how i missed that... this is even better than i thought it was going to be lol! NOW I'M REALLY IMPRESSED!

slacker 11-02-2011 04:51 PM

thanks .. stay tuned ..
this build is going to be NUTZ

.

slacker 11-11-2011 05:45 PM

so over the last week , I have been building my repair panels and today I was able to get them burnt in , rears as well

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...SSPX1315-1.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1324.jpg

now with the rockers repaired , I was able to get the cab height finalized @ 9" from the rockers to the Ground . + I also started on the cab mounts
Because there are only going to be 4 mounts instead of 6 , I wanted to make sure there were going to be strong .
cut out some 3/16" plate and surrounded it with some tube
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1326.jpg

Tacked into place I will add some more supports later , when I turn the frame over .

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1327.jpg

1 more front frame mount tomorrow , then I can get on the front cab mount

.

TinMan 11-11-2011 08:38 PM

Looking good. What are using for a tube bender?

slacker 11-12-2011 05:02 PM

I bought a magnum bender , it's a "manual" bender , just like the JD2 bender . KMS tools had a big sale and I got a super deal , includuding 3 dies .. I just couldnt pass it up

.

slacker 11-12-2011 05:47 PM

and cab side mount

Bent up some 1/2" solid stock with the 3/16" plate . as well as a "fish plate" for the cab side , 1/2" stock actually goes threw the fish plate for a stronger "plug" weld , and a toyota stock body mount bushing , I now have the front mounted

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1328.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1331.jpg

and now the front of the cab is mounted
still have some supports and final welding to do when I can turn over the frame , but for now it's good to go

also .. the cab now has it final "stance"

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1329.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1330.jpg

acetone can for referance ....

.

slacker 11-13-2011 05:14 PM

ok .. so I had a "peek" at the beginnings of this thread , and it didnt really start from day 1

so I'm going to refresh and let you all know the start of the build .

The build started with the stock truck which I had rebuilt the 22RE engine

http://www.members.shaw.ca/slacker50...s/IM000492.JPG

although a great engine , it just wasnt what I wanted anymore ..

so , I bought a Supra

http://www.members.shaw.ca/slacker502/IM001042.JPG

and "gutted " it

http://www.members.shaw.ca/slacker502/IM001113.JPG
