Eh sorry i just realized it was 85 pickups, but this one is 2wd and its going to be pushing some horsepower, sorry again didnt realize this wasnt about all 2wd toyota pickups.

slacker 07-11-2007 04:59 PM

dang .. thats cool .
same engine color , but i'm going to change mine to a candy red .. DIMENTIA DISORDER .

slacker 09-06-2007 04:26 PM

so dropped in the "mock up" engine , and tranny .
as suspected .. I have to cut the firewall . this is all going to work out great .. now with cutting the firewall , I have to move the pedals , and with that the seats .. which actually works out excellent .. the tranny shifter is now *exactly where it should be .. nice , I'm stoked .
http://www.members.shaw.ca/slacker502/HPIM0226.JPG

also added the exhaust manifold , and turbo .. to see how much modification on the down pipe i would have to do .. just SICK .. I dont think I have to do any .. it fits the crossmember , and "new" firewall excellent ..

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...y/HPIM0265.jpg

time to build the firewall

slacker 09-06-2007 04:28 PM

so now with the steering removed .. again .. I have now started on the firewall . first thing to do is remove all the stock mounts .
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...y/HPIM0267.jpg

that done , in order to keep it somewhat "street legle" I need to have wipers .. so I'm working on the passenger corner , trying to get the wiper motor into the cowl , and hidden from the engine bay ...

Turbo4Runner 09-06-2007 04:31 PM

Very nice! Looking forward to seeing this one come together.

slacker 09-06-2007 04:33 PM

little bit more today ...

made mount plate for the wiper motor .. so it will now be hidden inside the cowl .. I still need to cut the opening in the top of the cowl plate for access and mounting/removal , but pretty much done .

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...HPIM0278-1.jpg

cutting some steel from a template
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...y/HPIM0280.jpg

Tacking it into place
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...y/HPIM0281.jpg

and finally finished filling , filing , sanding , grinding ..

As a pure blood 4wd kid, I can appreciate the work going into this truck. I'm stoked for the motor. Are you going to have any revealing badging or crazy exhaust? I think a sleeper would be awesome.

slacker 09-06-2007 04:43 PM

no .. no sleeper here ... she's full out custom .

I have 3" pipes and a custom down pipe off the turbo. :) i'm also going to put the supra "TURBO" badge on somewhere .. just not sure where yet .

KevinInSac 09-06-2007 05:07 PM

Nice. On an episode of Trucks!, Stacie put an electronic thingy on the pipes that let him go from open header to legal muffled with the flip of a switch. That'd be fun to have.

slacker 09-06-2007 05:16 PM

they called .. looks like Stacy is doing a build up of a toy on his new show ..

they are interested in using some of my pieces I build at my shop http://www.toyotafiberglass.com .. were just "hammering" out the details ...

we'll see ..

.

KevinInSac 09-06-2007 05:18 PM

That'd be awesome if you got your stuff on there. Better finish the truck before they want to film...

dijlop 09-06-2007 05:43 PM

hehehe. thats intense man. i like it. 2wds rock. i personally woulda loved the sleeper look for it, but the full custom should be awesome too. good luck with that.

XtraSlow_XtraCab 09-06-2007 05:45 PM

Call me a moron, but does the term "sleeper" mean making it look stock & slow and then opening up a can of whoop ass?

You betcha. So when you pull up to the line, people think they've got this one in the bag. They stop thinking that once they get a good look at your backend.

slacker 09-07-2007 05:03 PM

so now with the mock up engine in it's place , and before I start on the firewall .. I have to locate the brake booster , so I can locate the pedals .

putting the brake booster in its place , will locate the pedals .

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0287.jpg

so now I need to make a bracket to hold them in place .

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0285.jpg

so now with the pedals and bracket bolted to the bracket bracket welded to the cowl .. I can start on the firewall

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0289.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0288.jpg

with the steering back in position
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0290.jpg

and just how I'm going to fit :)
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0292.jpg

slacker 09-08-2007 02:42 PM

so test fitting the dash .. going to do a complete fiberglass dash , so i'm getting a good look at what it's going to be like .. needs to fit the supra speedo .. I think it'll work .

my nephew loves his uncles shop , and the work .. and is already dreaming of the day he can come take over :)
