great project. your work always looks good! :)

slacker 09-08-2007 03:36 PM

well thanks bro !! :drink:

KevinInSac 09-08-2007 04:30 PM

The last pic, your pedals look a little funky...

slacker 09-08-2007 07:19 PM

no brake booster .. so the brake pedal is just swinging there .

KevinInSac 09-09-2007 12:33 AM

Ah, figured somehting like that was going on.

It'll be a glorious day when you can turn that key. Projected date?

Yes it will :)

project completion ? I have NO idea .. i'm just working on it in my spare time .. I have been neglecting other stuff , so I actually need to kick it out of the shop for a bit ..

but I did get a little more done on the tranny tunnel .

It MUST be removable , because of the frame design . If ever I need to remove the tranny , it will have to come out from the top .

so .

here is the cab tunel frame .

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0318.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0319.jpg

load of work .. took all day .

.

slacker 12-01-2007 04:03 PM

ok .. so heres my plans . dont do the photoshop thing so bare with me .
it's a 2 lever system .

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0366.jpg

basically , I want to "lay down" the rear struts . like this ..

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0365.jpg

so right now i'm in the midst of making 8 bracket mounts ...
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0369.jpg

so I can get everything "tacked" into place .. so I can measure for the leavers . I now have the links made , that fit the original lower strut mounts .

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0367.jpg
and they fit like so ......

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0368.jpg

also have the side supports
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0370.jpg

and FINALLY got the bushings figured ..
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/HPIM0371.jpg

rowdy235 12-01-2007 04:51 PM

Looks pretty sweet.
I'm not really a fan of modifications of that sort, I would rather leave things stock, however, yours does look pretty cool :)

I love toyota 2wd's. My old 77 and my current 82 are both 2wd's, and are IMO the best trucks ever.

slacker 03-18-2010 08:49 PM

http://toyotatrekker.proboards.com/i...play&thread=33

.

duckyaz 03-19-2010 10:11 AM

.

881stGenRunner 09-20-2011 05:58 PM

sweet!! man its been awhile since you had this one out. I hope you keep going on it and keep the updates going like you did with the Trekker!

slacker 09-20-2011 06:01 PM

yep for sure ..

I still have to get "re-organized" on this build .. but it now has an up front dedicated space ..

.

yotasavg 09-26-2011 01:08 PM

awesome! someday i will own another 2wd... so much fun

slacker 09-26-2011 05:02 PM

I'm stoked to get this one " happenin' " ..

so today .. a little work "lining up" the cab to build mounts for it ..

also , I thought I would let you people in on the plans
this is the first time I have mentioned this .. so bare with me ..

caged front 2" in tube + inner roll cage (2")
3 piece flip front clip , on hydrolics (3" flared fenders custom hood )
3" flared box on hydrolics .. smoothed
suside doors with poppers
full custom fiber dash , w/supra guages +
supra interior w/ full electric seats
smokin' sterio w custom enclosures

kind of the plan .. but not in stone yet !!

.

slacker 09-30-2011 05:01 PM

got to work on the wheels and stance today ..

New fenders with my big fat rollers

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1254.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1253.jpg

they fit awesome , but I wont be able to stuff them up in there .. just to close .. so I tried out some 5" back spacing wheels .. closer , but still not what I want

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1250.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1251.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1252.jpg

.

slacker 10-11-2011 04:02 PM

so a little bit more cutting :)

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...y/SSPX1299.jpg

also .. interior is now completely gutted ..

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...y/SSPX1303.jpg

anyone need some good floor boards ? :)

.

slacker 10-12-2011 05:14 PM

my first bend with my new bender :)
2" OD Sced 40

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...y/SSPX1306.jpg

It's actually going to be my bend tool .. so I'm going to try out my powder coating as well with powdercoating it and saving it

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...y/SSPX1305.jpg

I have to still "draw" up my tube work in my solidworks software so stay tuned .. STOKED !!

.

slacker 10-22-2011 04:19 PM

added some rear suspension today ..
not done yet , still some tube to add , but the rear is off the jack stands :)

slacker 10-25-2011 05:33 PM

mght even put you to work :)

.

jsn_stockard 10-25-2011 07:38 PM

Slacker I bow to you're awsomeness!! I have been kicking the idea around of doing something like this to a 91 that I can pick up pretty cheap. Love the custom frame, and I will be stalking this thread like a psyco ex girlfriend on meth!!!!

slacker 10-26-2011 03:47 PM

thanks ..

found some time today , so I finally cut the floor out for the body drop

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1310.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1309.jpg

.

slacker 10-28-2011 04:18 PM

prepping the inner rockers for the new body mounts .. I of course found rust :( .. so now I have to fix that first .. I was really surprised , this cab was in awesome shape no rust at all , or so I thought .. just goes to show you , even if you think you have no rust .. you probabally do !!

undercoating wire wheeled off , and looking great

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1312.jpg

and cut out rust !!

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1311.jpg

.

slacker 10-29-2011 03:55 PM

1 side done .. and ready

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1313.jpg

.

slacker 10-31-2011 04:07 PM

also got the drivers side cleand and prepped this weekend

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1315.jpg

and :( .. drivers side has rust as well

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1316.jpg

I think to be safe , i'm going to cut it all out .. front and back rocker area , and strengthin both sides before I build the body mounts
and just for some giggles ..
heres the pile of removed edging and ground steel ..

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1314.jpg

.

TinMan 10-31-2011 06:48 PM

Yep cut that crap out. You know the deal. If you skip it, it will haunt you later.

slacker 11-01-2011 04:33 PM

absolutly ..

.

yotasavg 11-02-2011 10:44 AM

wow i'm not even sure that i know what's happening here anymore.... What's going on with the rear drive setup? looks awesome!

yotasavg 11-02-2011 10:48 AM

went back and reread the beginning, now it all makes sense, idk how i missed that... this is even better than i thought it was going to be lol! NOW I'M REALLY IMPRESSED!

slacker 11-02-2011 04:51 PM

thanks .. stay tuned ..
this build is going to be NUTZ

.

slacker 11-11-2011 05:45 PM

so over the last week , I have been building my repair panels and today I was able to get them burnt in , rears as well

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...SSPX1315-1.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1324.jpg

now with the rockers repaired , I was able to get the cab height finalized @ 9" from the rockers to the Ground . + I also started on the cab mounts
Because there are only going to be 4 mounts instead of 6 , I wanted to make sure there were going to be strong .
cut out some 3/16" plate and surrounded it with some tube
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1326.jpg

Tacked into place I will add some more supports later , when I turn the frame over .

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1327.jpg

1 more front frame mount tomorrow , then I can get on the front cab mount

.

TinMan 11-11-2011 08:38 PM

Looking good. What are using for a tube bender?

slacker 11-12-2011 05:02 PM

I bought a magnum bender , it's a "manual" bender , just like the JD2 bender . KMS tools had a big sale and I got a super deal , includuding 3 dies .. I just couldnt pass it up

.

slacker 11-12-2011 05:47 PM

and cab side mount

Bent up some 1/2" solid stock with the 3/16" plate . as well as a "fish plate" for the cab side , 1/2" stock actually goes threw the fish plate for a stronger "plug" weld , and a toyota stock body mount bushing , I now have the front mounted

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1328.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1331.jpg

and now the front of the cab is mounted
still have some supports and final welding to do when I can turn over the frame , but for now it's good to go

also .. the cab now has it final "stance"

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1329.jpg

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...d/SSPX1330.jpg

acetone can for referance ....

.

slacker 11-13-2011 05:14 PM

ok .. so I had a "peek" at the beginnings of this thread , and it didnt really start from day 1

so I'm going to refresh and let you all know the start of the build .

The build started with the stock truck which I had rebuilt the 22RE engine

http://www.members.shaw.ca/slacker50...s/IM000492.JPG

although a great engine , it just wasnt what I wanted anymore ..

so , I bought a Supra

http://www.members.shaw.ca/slacker502/IM001042.JPG

and "gutted " it

http://www.members.shaw.ca/slacker502/IM001113.JPG
