abecedarian 02-24-2009 10:52 AM

Soak it with a good cleaner- any in particular, then steam clean it.

gilby4runner 02-24-2009 10:53 AM

Scuba you are now the official- Search Man, the yota tech hero.

Simple green and other similar products will do. Dirty as "balls" huh?

Kiroshu 02-24-2009 10:58 AM

I've tired 4 cans of degresser+pressure spray....didn't do very good. Tried 3 cans of WD40 on entire motor didn't do much. Tried reg soap and water...nope. Tired purple power and didn't do much either.... Its still got lots of splash mud on everything and motor grease one front and block....

bipolarandproud 02-24-2009 11:21 AM

http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/m...bdabom/409.jpgI use 409 Degreaser or Brake cleaner .

Ed H. 02-24-2009 11:21 AM

did you try any elbow grease i heard somewhere it works wonders on pretty much anything

the thick stuff is going to be manual removal a stiff brush, something to scrape with and a lil degreaser, on the really thick stuff degreaser doesnt do much because it only works on the top layer and wear some glasses you will not regret it

scuba 02-24-2009 11:23 AM

hah new sig link !! :dj:

Ed H. 02-24-2009 11:27 AM

bipolarandproud 02-24-2009 11:32 AM

Well, I don't know how it works on mud ,but when I had to replace my front seal oil was everywhere !! even on the tail gate . It worked pretty good for me I spayed it on waited about 2 minutes .. spayed somemore .. Then I used a to wash it all down . It came off easy after that . That's all I use to clean with . I used this stuff called ,"Bar keepers friend " on the rims .

scuba 02-24-2009 11:33 AM

get a hand wire brush from your local ace, with the engine slightly warm spray it down and then use said whatever cleaner, let it sit for a min or 5 then scrub !! then spray down, run the truck to let dry..:dj:

Kiroshu 02-24-2009 12:01 PM

old mechanics trick to use on grease and oil is oven cleaner, doesn't work on mud though. spray it on, let it set, then power wash it off, then spray everything with wd40.

space-junk 02-24-2009 03:49 PM

hahaha... scooby thinks taht because hes been here over a year and wrecked 2 trucks hes a "vetran"... :hillbill:

my motor want "dirty as balls" but it was quite nasty and 2 cans of GUNK Engine Cleaner worked for me...

waskillywabbit 02-24-2009 05:11 PM

Purple Power and a pressure washer.

Purple Power: (you can get it at your local auto parts) It is made by clean-rite

when i clean my engine bay i just run down to the local powersports shop (atv, dirtbike, motorcycle dealer) and pick up some of the suzuki motorcycle cleaner.. im sure there are other brands and its probably just something re-bottled with suzuki's name on it but it works awesome.. doesnt pit aluminum like simple green or castrol superclean.. and wont attack vinly coated wireing or rubber like some other cleaners can...but for really nasty grease and goop i go with the castrol superclean.. spray it on, scrub a bit with a stiff brush.. spay some more on, let it sit a bit, then spray a bit more on and hit it with the hose.

R&R engine. Done... :hillbill:

alexjobot 02-24-2009 10:03 PM

cake the motor in taco bell ground beef it makes an excellent non caustic degreaser. you can use the taco shells to patch any rust holes, or it will give your engine diarrhea.

pat161 03-23-2009 04:07 AM

Hondabrite works really well to get grease and oil off, probably wouldn't do much for the mud and it is expensive.

I gotta see a pic of just how dirty "as balls" it-THE ENGINE, not the balls
@bipolar and proud: 409 did that? Nice! I gotta give it a try.
