35/12.50/R15s on stock 4.10s... I'm getting 5.29s thought

jskijoe 12-08-2009 08:18 AM

33x12.5/15 w/ stock 4:56's debating to go up to 4:88s after the 3.4 is in...

tj884Rdlx 12-08-2009 08:23 AM

33x10.5-15 BFG A/Ts with stock 4.10s. the 88 22RE, even with it's second rebuild, cannot maintain speed on a hill.

on highways, i drive it floored in 4th. on a downhill it goes up to 70-75 at 4k. on an uphill it drops to 50-55 at 28k. then i gotta shift to 3rd.

5th is hibernating until i get 4.88s or 5.29s

oldblue94 12-08-2009 08:28 AM

Im running 36in military tires with stock 4.10s with a 22re and manual tranny... needless to say I never use 5th gear:saw:

dub tek 12-08-2009 06:26 PM

88' 22RE 5spd
ALL on 31X10.50 R15

Was on OE 4.10's
Just swapped to 4.56 from ADD v6 auto

prior to the swap, hills were a loosing battle
hills now, acceleration is easy in 5th with traffic

1989toy4wd 12-08-2009 06:28 PM

22re, 5speed, 5.29s and 37s, a little slow, but she will go 70 on the freeway

bigarms23 12-08-2009 06:34 PM

TOYOTA 1 12-09-2009 08:55 AM

4:88's would help a bunch tacho!

camo31_10.50 12-09-2009 09:15 AM

5.29's would help more for the auto if you go to 33's lol

TOYOTA 1 12-09-2009 09:38 AM

might as well go with 5:71's and step up to 35's :l

brian2sun 12-09-2009 11:02 AM

Might as well do an engine swap, lift it 6"s, put in 5.71s, and get some 37" tires. No really, 4.88s and 31s with a 22re should be perfect or 5.29s with 33s like camo said.

That's what I have on Tippy and it is the bomb with the tall overdrive (Auto) Kinda makes it like a crawler....

Now if only Tippy Ran....

VSU_4runnin 12-09-2009 12:12 PM

33's with stock 4.10 a little sluggish on acceleration. otherwise it behaves very nicely

mrmatson 12-09-2009 12:47 PM

33x12.5 with 4.88 little slow up here at 5000 to 7000ft but I can almost go 80 on the highway so long as I don't hit any hills. I'll probably go down to a 10.5 tire to reduce rotating mass and hopefully liven things up a bit.

86 4x4 22re 5spd, 5.29's and 30x9.50R-15's.

According to the radar sign, when my speedo says 70mph, I'm actually going 55.

55mph = 3000 rpm right now

I don't notice hills, up or down lol

yoder519 03-17-2010 05:26 AM

95- 35s, 4.10s
