What GEARS & TIRES are you running?

Everyone seems to have their preferences, but what GEARS and TIRES are you running on your Toyota?

I'll start it off: '86 22r 5spd with stock 4.10's on 31 x 10.50 R-15's--yeah it's SLOW!

buckshot1224 12-07-2009 12:05 PM

'92, 3.0L, 5spd, stock 4.10's, 31x10.5x15 Gets along just fine, I can gain speed on a hill on the interstate at 70mph.

Keith B. 12-07-2009 12:37 PM

91 4WD truck, 22RE, 5spd trans, 31 BFG(actual diameter about 30") on 15x6 rims, 4.56 gears. Police radar signs say I'm going 35mph when the speedo says 32mph.

camo31_10.50 12-07-2009 12:47 PM

im runnin 4.10's on 31's on my '86 22r..and it aint THAT slow..i mean i can safely merge into traffic on the interstate..i've got a rebuilt motor though..EB 261C cam..header and exhaust lol..

and now that i look back..i realize that those mods did help :)

OrRunner 12-07-2009 12:53 PM

87 22re with 250xxx stock 410 with 31 x10.5x15. got to pull 3rd at 55 up hill, yea she's knida tired lol

camo31_10.50 12-07-2009 12:56 PM

well it really depends on how steep the hill is...some hills i can take in 4th (can't take ANY hill in 5th...at all)..but others i gotta get up in the RPMS close to 4400 or so in 3rd gear LOL

JollyGreen 12-07-2009 12:56 PM

94 22re 5 speed 31x10.50 r15's. Its stock and it gets around just fine.
I can accelerate on the highway no problem.

88 4runner 3.4 swapped auto. 35x12.5x15 and 4.10s great on highways but a tad slow off the start

AxleIke 12-07-2009 01:29 PM

Currently running 4.88's on 35x12.5's. Just about perfect. Climbs hills fine, speedo is spot on, and cruises nicely at speed.

#1Grunt 12-07-2009 01:52 PM

stock 4.10's with 31x10.50x15

dropzone 12-07-2009 01:56 PM

'81 Trekker, 35x13.50's with 5.29's aussies F/R, dirty 30 axles up front and a twin stick...need 37's:D

ryantowry_81 12-07-2009 02:07 PM

84 ex cab with 42 tsl's and 5.38's and a 4.3 cruised pretty good at 60 the one time i actually drove it that fast....lol pulled the alaskan hills pretty well had to drop to 4th but i down shift in my stock truck on that grade too so i was impressed!

TOYOTA 1 12-07-2009 02:27 PM

36x13.50's- 5:29's- 22re -5spd, works great.

kiyobrown 12-07-2009 05:20 PM

22re 5 speed with 4.10's and 265/70/16 (31's) .... It's a little sluggish off the line, but look what I got today!!!!

I got the missing front for a set of 4.56's. Trying to figure out when I will get time to put em in. Until then, I will trip over them in the garage and drool. :hillbill:

Almost forgot the best part.... $220 for both!

Mic09dcsm 12-08-2009 04:31 AM

4.10's with 35x12.50's a 5spd and V6.

It moves good enough for what it is.

Green_slime 12-08-2009 04:42 AM

91diesel 12-08-2009 05:08 AM

91' extra cab 4x4, 3.73's with 255/85/16's (about a 34x9.50) and an auto. Pulls great on the highway and have to watch full throttle launches when the road is wet..........
Almost forgot to mention the 3.0..........turbo diesel! :-)

Not yet. Too cold here.

They rub at full lock. Nothing a little plasma won't fix.

muddpigg 12-08-2009 07:26 AM

4:88's and 33's, gets me where I need to go on/off road.

JasonWin 12-08-2009 07:31 AM

35/12.50/R15s on stock 4.10s... I'm getting 5.29s thought

jskijoe 12-08-2009 08:18 AM

33x12.5/15 w/ stock 4:56's debating to go up to 4:88s after the 3.4 is in...

tj884Rdlx 12-08-2009 08:23 AM

33x10.5-15 BFG A/Ts with stock 4.10s. the 88 22RE, even with it's second rebuild, cannot maintain speed on a hill.

on highways, i drive it floored in 4th. on a downhill it goes up to 70-75 at 4k. on an uphill it drops to 50-55 at 28k. then i gotta shift to 3rd.

5th is hibernating until i get 4.88s or 5.29s

oldblue94 12-08-2009 08:28 AM

Im running 36in military tires with stock 4.10s with a 22re and manual tranny... needless to say I never use 5th gear:saw:

dub tek 12-08-2009 06:26 PM

88' 22RE 5spd
ALL on 31X10.50 R15

Was on OE 4.10's
Just swapped to 4.56 from ADD v6 auto

prior to the swap, hills were a loosing battle
hills now, acceleration is easy in 5th with traffic

1989toy4wd 12-08-2009 06:28 PM

22re, 5speed, 5.29s and 37s, a little slow, but she will go 70 on the freeway

bigarms23 12-08-2009 06:34 PM

4.3v6 d44 513s d60 513s smokes 37s

tacho75 12-08-2009 06:52 PM

31x10.50 on stock rims and stock gears auto tranny and it's slow realy slow :(
what would you guys recomend for gears?????? any help
i use it on the freeway 80% of the time it's a lovely 22re efi

TOYOTA 1 12-09-2009 08:55 AM

4:88's would help a bunch tacho!

camo31_10.50 12-09-2009 09:15 AM

5.29's would help more for the auto if you go to 33's lol

TOYOTA 1 12-09-2009 09:38 AM

might as well go with 5:71's and step up to 35's :l

brian2sun 12-09-2009 11:02 AM

Might as well do an engine swap, lift it 6"s, put in 5.71s, and get some 37" tires. No really, 4.88s and 31s with a 22re should be perfect or 5.29s with 33s like camo said.

That's what I have on Tippy and it is the bomb with the tall overdrive (Auto) Kinda makes it like a crawler....

Now if only Tippy Ran....

VSU_4runnin 12-09-2009 12:12 PM

33's with stock 4.10 a little sluggish on acceleration. otherwise it behaves very nicely

mrmatson 12-09-2009 12:47 PM

33x12.5 with 4.88 little slow up here at 5000 to 7000ft but I can almost go 80 on the highway so long as I don't hit any hills. I'll probably go down to a 10.5 tire to reduce rotating mass and hopefully liven things up a bit.

Jamey 03-17-2010 04:52 AM

86 4x4 22re 5spd, 5.29's and 30x9.50R-15's.

According to the radar sign, when my speedo says 70mph, I'm actually going 55.

55mph = 3000 rpm right now

I don't notice hills, up or down lol

yoder519 03-17-2010 05:26 AM

95- 35s, 4.10s
85- stock puney tires, 4.10s= speed demon
