What gears do I have?
I'm having a brain fart. For some reason I feel like my 4runner (91 SR5 V6 4x4) has 4.88 gearing but I can't remember where I got that info from. Where can I check this?

Hmmm G254 which shows 8" 4.55 and open diff. I swore I had 4.88 in there, anyone else with a stick tell me what speed you get in 5th gear at 3500rpm on 31"? I'm right at 65.
Haha, my 69th post ;) |

G254 is 4.56's You put your engine down but not if its an auto or 5 speed. Since it says G254, I am gonna say 5 speed. Never mind, your second post says stick. 4.88's are more common to find stock in a V6 auto. I have 4.56's and 31's, and I run about 3100 rpm at 70 |
Put all your info in here. It also lets you see what changing tires and/or gears would do to RPMS and road speed.

again, read the previous post. grimmjeeper is in there along with everything else you should need.

Me and Logan travel together alot. I am the tunnel rat, he is the step stool.

Just to add to the info-porn, here are three more links related to Toyota gearing/differentials:
http://www.off-road.com/trucks4x4/ar....jsp?id=274535 http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/faq/parts/ http://home.4x4wire.com/erik/diffs/ (more about carriers than gears) |
GUYS!!! The sticky in the 86-95 section has every single one of those links in it.
Lets try this again.......................... https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...osting-204178/ :horse: If you have a different link that is not in the sticky and should be, please post it in the sticky so I can update it. Thank you. |

Why?
:D |
Maybe bc 99% of my posts are some sort of attempt at humor? I'll just go with that. No biggie fellas, not trying to be a jackhole, I just spent some time putting it together bc it took me a while to hunt down all those links whenever I needed em as well, I just want everyone else to benefit too. I don't need my own private sticky. :D

If you search an entire question, it limits the amount of replies
" I am looking for a way to identify the gears in my 4runner". Will get less hits then "gear info" or "gear identification" and no biggie. I notice you posted it the newbie tech, that's why you didn't see it, if you would have posted in 86-95, it would have smacked you in the face before you tried to post a new thread, lol. Hope you found out what you needed. |
just for the info.
