So heres the thing, i have a 87 4Runner 22R-TE (Trubo) and its running like ˟˟˟˟. I adjusted the valves, they were so tight some didnt even close! Still having problems, VERY hard tro start, must turn over a half dozen times and it takes 5-6 tries to fire up, warm or cold. Also has a random miss at idle and under load, it will miss 1 to 6 revolutions in a row but totally spiratic. Sometime it dies when i give it gas. IE pedel to the floor it revs to 1800 or totally cuts out. then sometimes it runs 'fine' but seems to not have much power. im at a loss and dont know where to go from here.

How about a coil issue? Could that led to the symptoms i am having?

Bump, still having issues. Is there anyway this could be related to not having a working speedo? IE: Electronic Cruise Control will not with with out the computer registering
speed. So could it also be messing up my firing if it thinks im sitting still all the time?

Bump. Now have checked the fuel pump and replaced the filter bolted to the side of engine. Still having issues! Has a random miss at idle but doesnt cut out as much, also is starting easy so far. I failed oregon DEQ with to many hydrocarbons and has a gas smell in exhaust. also has speratic idle, anywhere from 600-1200 RPM. Could my cold start injector not be shutting off and is giving it to much gas? Could my injectors in general be fauled? Thoughts, ideas?
