Located the source of a leak, but now I'm not sure what could be causing it or how to fix it. I'm not sure what to call it, but it's the "housing" the the oil filter screws into. There's a pretty steady stream coming out of it when I stop. This picture isn't actually my oil filter, just for demonstration purposes. Any suggestions are appreciated.
^ yeah .. I have seen with aftermarket filters , when you remove the oil filter the rubber o-ring on the filter will stick , and when you screw on the new filter , well spacing it to much , and it wont seal
maybe helps ?

I'm getting the oil changed soon and will tell them to check on that. I guess there's no common issue with that area then? That's mainly what I was looking for.
Thanks guys!!

it would seem the people changing your oil perhaps cross threaded the filter.
cheap filter threads screwed up from new .
Get this taken care of if it leaks as bad as you say
This will cause the oil pressure to be lower then normal as well.

An oil change is really easy to do.
I use to go to the cheap shops like jiffy lube. But one day I saw a guy using vice grips on my oil plug. I said drop it and im leaving.
Just don't crank down on the filter. its not a lug nut.

Is it a Purolator, Motorcraft, or a Valvoline filter? They're the only white filters that I can think of. I tried the Motorcraft FL-400S on mine and it started leaking from the gasket area, it wasn't cross threaded either. It could have just been that one in a million oil filter.
You have the 3.0 and I don't think they have the same start up noise problem the 22r/re has so I'd say get the factory Toyota filter from the dealership parts counter (I've used three factory filters and they have never leaked) or go to just about any store and get a Wix filter. You could also get a NAPA Gold filter. There is a cheaper NAPA filter so ask for the Gold. I've used A LOT of Wix/NAPA Gold filters on different engines over the years and never had a leakage problem.
