I just got a gas tank from a junkyard for my 87. I want to clean up the inside so i dont have any issues later on. There is a sludge or gel in the bottom that needs to come out. I dont think seafoam or other fuel treatments will work. Any other ideas??
thanks

I'd put some varsol or paint thinner in it, swish it around, drain it, and rinse out with some gas and see how it does. Just a tip, be sure to order some new fuel tank drain plug gaskets since they are only one time use or "crush" gaskets.

Paint thinner and marbles. The marbles will knock loose any crap inside. Rinse and repeat.
