My 86 22r 4x4 has been having this weird hard start problem, a few times a week I will try to start the truck and it will just turn over and over but it will nor fire up. When this happens the truck is getting fuel but it is not getting spark, if I go key off on a number of times it will eventually turn on as if nothing were wrong, any ideas would be appreciated, thanks for your time, Kelly.

I have:
-Cleaned grounds on fender well for the coil
-I Was able to only once get some one to turn it over well it was doing this and I pulled a spark plug to check for spark and there was no spark at plug.
- I know there is fuel because when I pump pedal when turning over it will smell really rich and stumble when it finely starts but if I do not pump gas pedal when it finally gets spark it will start normal.

Try cleaning the ignition switch on the back of the key cylinder. If your not up for cleaning and refurbishing it you can try the salvage yard.

If you're not in a rush the next time it happens you can check the continuity on the ignition plug under the dash. Should have continuity between pins 8 and 7.

In case you don't have the manual already, uhm get one

Pins 8 and 7 are on the bottom row right next to each other, the bottom row is the row opposite the retaining clip and it has pin 6 missing.
