Reading through all the thread and such i see that engnbldr is a pretty popular guy with great prices. Now my question is what do you guys think about him?
Im looking to buy the following
-Gasket set (hoping it includes all the gaskets, and that they are well quality)
-a couple valves
-head bolts
-timing belt

I just want to make sure i am buying quality parts from a reputable dealer.

the time ive been here never seen anything negative

My only gripe was that he didn't have more 3RZ parts.... But as ^^ said, I have yet to see or hear anything negative....

Just gone done building my 22re using all engnbldr parts. The parts all seemed top notch quality, he's been building engines forever, and the price was unbeatable. That said, my rebuild after 3000 miles is still burning a LOT of oil, but i don't think it's the parts i got from him causing the problem.

I've been running my ENGNBLDR head for a little over a year, and still loving it. Tod and Ted have always made time to answer any questions I've had along the way. Their parts and service are top notch in my book.

You need a timing chain not a timing belt...

You don't want to buy a couple of valves. You want either 4, 6, 8 or 12 of them. Depending on how many cylinders the engine has and whether you'll be replacing ALL of the intake and/or ALL of the exhaust valves.
How is it that you know that?

FYI, his 4Runner is actually a 93. This thread is in the wrong forum. So, as far as I can tell, you only have a 50% chance of being right. Unless you know something I don't...

I'm running their metal-guided timing chain and 261 cam. No issues here.

parts are great but the service is unbeatable, when i had questions ordering parts i sent pictures via email to ted and within minutes got a reply... i love the 261 cam and rebuild kit i got from them...

I got a rebuild kit and cam for my 88 a few years back. I had it built and it was very powerful however it burned oil from day 1 until the day I sold it a year later. I would highly recommend using hastings rings as I did on my 84 from which I have not had any problems. Everything else with engnbldr was great including the service and the buildup could have been a factor, regardless ill use Hastings... Period! Yes. Ted is very helpful

i have nothing but good things to say about ted, i ordered my 3.0 rebuild kit from him and everything arrived quickly and he responded very quickly to my emails even after the business hours.

quality wise it all seemed to be of good quality, this was my first ever rebuild so im not an expert but everything went in with ease and about 2500 miles later it is still running perfectly and mine does NOT burn oil at all! it leaks lol but not burn, just have to measure all of your ring gaps and make sure the gaps are orientated correctly!

Engnbldr has great customer service.

Parts quality seems so-so on occasion. Will Ted screw you over? Not in a million years. He will take care of you in an instant.

It is one thing to relate personal experience I have no idea how things play out with others .

I always relate my experience or builds I have had hands on involvement .

Sounds like my motor I was using alot of oil too but it does seem like the more miles I put on it the less oil it uses im at close to 7k now . My engine builder warned me that the moly rings will take a long while to seat in all the way . I think they are seating in nicely now as I dont burn much oil at all anymore . I was in the habit of checking it every fill up and adding oil every second or third fill up but now I actually have lost count on how many fill ups it takes to need oil . I do like the parts he sells I have his complete head and complete engine rebuild kit including the metal chain guides and 268 cam . I have to say I do like the motor it runs very well for a tiny little single cam 4 banger . I can pull my malibu ski boat with it just fine . Dont get me wrong up not flying up any hills but it will chug along just fine as long as I'm in no hurry .lol. One thing i will mention is I will never build another 22r with out buying brand new valve adjuster studs the little sob's are hella noisy if you used the originals. so yeah engblder is the man :)

all my parts came from them, but all my bolts and hardware are oem, and all gaskets are fel-pro. i have almost 25k on the front-end kit with only a bad oil seal (not eb's, easy fix)

Ted and Todd are great guys, no doubt about that. The DJ Rock parts on the other hand...well...are not the best by any means. I've yet to have a Rock part last longer than 30,000 miles. If you know this going in, then you know what to expect.

They are great to deal with Ted was real patient with me...LOL......I have not had any problems with any the parts other than the head gasket and before you jump on that bandwagon it was my fault!!!...I checked the piston to valve clearance with plumbers putty and didnt get it all cleaned off before I put the head gasket on.... Again great guys and strait foward I will defenatly deal with them agian..!!!!:rockin:
