Well I am new here to Yota Tech. I have owned 6 Toyota 4x4's in the past. I just sold my 08 Tacoma double cab 4x4 and am so happy to be back in an straight axle truck again. I found this one with mostly stock stuff on it. The paint is new but home shot and not that great, but hey its going to be a play toy for wheeling not shinning. Anyway I have the fallowing plans.
3.5 inch leaf springs
shocks
cross over steering
in cab roll cage ( rolled my 3rd toyota and walked away but totaled my baby
trussed axle
gears
locker? limited slip?
winch
and a host of other things I want.
Any how happy to meet everybody and look forward to reading everybody elses posts as it gives me inspiration to wrench on mine.
cant seem to post pics now I will get them up soon!!!

welcome to YT.
I was in kind of the same boat as you, a long time Toyota owner, had an '05 Tacoma TRD OR DC, needed something bigger for family..picked up an '81 for a trail rig...though I miss the Taco.
What part of the Valley are you? Salem'ish? there is a local group you might have heard of : http://kanyon-crawlers.com/ haven't wheeled with them yet but plan to once I get my transmission replaced.

Thanks everybody. Yes I live about 15 min. west of salem. I have heard of Canyon Crawlers. Actually knew someone that used to, maybe still wheels with them. Sean Ganoid is his name. He owns a red 89 sas'ed truck. Seems to be good group of guys. I want to get the lift and tires before I go and wheel with them though, they usually go to places like Browns Camp in the Tillamook state forest and I know that I will need some mods before I try to tackle it. Look forward to wheelin with you all hopefully soon.
