IPOD connection/Wired FM Modulator

Just got an IPOD mini yesterday and want to hook it up to my car. I have a 02 Sport Edition 4Runner with a stock CD playter deck. I dont want to buy one of the FM transmitters cause I heard they dont work. Is there any way I can hook it up to the stock deck to have it sound good. I know I can do the tape thing, but any other way? If so, how, pics, writeup!?
Much Thanks in advance!!!!

Those connectors are for after-market decks, correct? Anyway to connect it to the stock deck?

It depends...

A few companies sell devices which plug into the back of Toyota OEM head units (into the CD changer port) and allow a variety of control of the Ipod through the head unit. The two I found were the "Ipod2car" and "USA Spec Ipod Adapter" (try a google search).

Now here is the hitch- Both companies say if your OEM head unit is CD changer compatible, their units will work. I purchased the USA Spec version for my wife's 99 Cellica, and the head unit would not recognize it. I have not tried the Ipod2car version yet but have little hope since both appear to be based on similar technology.

I would suggest checking out the automotive forum on www.ipodlounge.com. Lots of good info about auto adapters, and you might find someone with your same OEM head unit to provide further guideance.

FYI- Dension also makes a well reviewed version of this product, but as far as I can tell it is not yet available for Toyota.

Finally, please post if you find something that works, because I am still trying to get this to work on my wife's car.

Good Luck-

Thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it. I went out and I got this FM Modulator (wired) from circuit city http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/produ...oid=-12581&m=0 and hooked it up to the stock deck and then hooked the ipod to this http://www.radioshack.com/product.as...t%5Fid=42-2550 dual RCA to headphone. Everything works fine.

However I do have one question. There doesnt seem to be much volume. I turn the stock deck ALL the way up, as far as it can go and the Ipod is almost all the way up too. Its loud enough for listening pleasure but when you really get into a song and want to crank it with your windows open I have maxed out both the stereo and the Ipod. Is this normal?

The Modulator kit did come with a short RCA cable that has like a plastic box in the middle. I figured this was for elimiatating feed-back. However when I install it inbetween the FM modulator and the Ipod it causes HUGE feedback, to the point where I cant hear the music.
Anyone experience this or have a way to fix it?
