lol yes, thats a given, i was just wondering in terms of physical things. straps seem to be a very good investment.

as far as a come-a-long goes, is it a normal chain link fence one or a more heavy duty one?

Elton 04-17-2006 07:11 PM

all of the above and a sleeping bag maybe a tent and some food and water and a flashlight and extra batteries

AH64ID 04-17-2006 07:13 PM

I just take a 4 ton one. I have a winch so its just for RARE instance...

common sence....that will keep most people at home...espically if its a boys weekend out :dr: :dr: :dr: :dr: :dr: :dr: :dr: :dr: :dr:

2 ton come-a-long, roughly $20 at Harbor Freight.

same size spare tires as what's on your rig.

drguitarum2005 04-20-2006 11:02 PM

can anyone chime in with a decent estimate of how much each things (or any of the things) cost? im looking to get some tow straps and a come-a-long as some of the very first things I get...

a high lift is nice (as long as you repect its hidden agenda......which is your domise) :smokin:

I never liked using comealongs, as it is you are testing the outer limits of its capacity, and then to make it worst you are forced to be directly in the path of the cable because of the short little handle. But ive never broke one.

I would suggest a subscription to a good 4x4 magazine of your choice as this topic is covered in almost every subscription I get at least once a year in some form or fashion.

Depending on where you live you find find them at a decent price. Tacoma Screw, in the NW, has them a lot cheaper than offroad stores. It beacuse they are used for work not play. But it seems that, shipping aside, everything is cheaper online.
