Backspacing on 02 Taco?
 

i've decided what rims and tires to run, 17x8 6x5.5 rims with 285/70's and ran a search for the backspacing of the rims, but can't quite pinpoint the correct measurement i'll need for this combo. im not planning on taking it on trails, its just a DD, but would like to have to best backspacing to provide min. rubbing and would like to stay away from doing any mods to insure that there is no rubbing.

Grab a tape measure and a stick and measure one of your wheels and you'll know what the stock backspacing is:

Stick close to the stock backspacing to keep the tires in closer to the truck and minimize rubbing issues with the front tires when turnng.

You can generally run w/ less backspacing to push the wheels farther out from the body. Wider stance is nice with lift. However, for each inch less backspacing the outside of the wheel/tire is 1" farther out and for each extra inch of wheel width the outside of the wheel is 1" farther out and for each 2" wider tire, the outside of the tire is 1" farther out. The wider you go then wider the arc swung by the front tires is when you steer. If that arc intersects the arch of the wheel well, you'll need to trim or add lift to eliminate the rubbing:

so basically, say the backspacing is 4.5'' , i put the tire at 6'' so 1''of the tire will stick out, did i mention that im not gonna be offroading that all of this is for show :) um, think u couild help me out with finding a 3'' Fabtech Suspension lift for m truck its a prerunner and im needing to know what exactly i need to buy to lift it
