Arp knuckle studs or 5th stud mod?

So this past weekend I headed for the desert and happened to break all 4 of my passenger knuckle studs hitting a washout. Would I be better off getting the ARP stuf kit or getting stock replacement studs and doing the 5th stud mod?:wrench:

do both, I am running ARP studs on mine but would like to upgrade to six shooters but i need to $250 on my truck in a few other places first..a buddy of mine has done several 5th studs mods so I will probably end up using my ARP's with a 5th stud

Interesting discussion going on over at NW-wheelers as well with lots of info

I am going to be going ARP studs, and thats it. A buddy I wheel with has only ARP studs and a 302 and doesn't break anything. The key, I am finding, is to check torque before every run and make sure everything is tight. The cause of most of the failures seems to be loose nuts.

Knuckle studs break from improper torque, loose or too tight. Check before and after each trip.

Upgrade to chromoly studs and go from there.

Just picked up a set of ARP studs from WabFab should be here soon, and I'll be checking the truck after every run

Both. I upgraded to ARP's 2 years ago and still have had issues with them loosening up and striping the knuckles. DIRTCO has done both and has never had an issue with them loosening. I bought the Longfield 5th studs and plan on installing them sometime this week!
