94 T100 5spd tranny

Hi, I'm new here. I have a 94 T100 4x4 with a manual tranny and 190,000 miles. I love my truck and have done a ton of work on it, nothing fancy just replacing worn out stuff. The body is in pretty good shape and the motor is in great shape. But..............

Lately I have had 2 tranny problems that I believe are not related:

(1) If the truck has been driven a while and I try to go into Reverse the gears grind. Interestingly, when the truck is not warmed up I do not have this problem. Synchronizer?

(2) It is getting hard to shift into 1st, not other gears, just first. There is no grinding or anything its just like the gear is not there. Shift fork?

The fluid level and quality are fine.

Any one ever rebuilt one of these transmissions? How hard is it? How much would a pro job cost (roughly)?

thank you.

Problem #2 sounds like it could be a symptom of clutch pedal bracket failure... something very common to T100's. Basically the bracket that holds your clutch pedal cracks and eventually breaks. While cracked the bracket makes it very hard for the clutch pedal to function. So take a peak under your dash at the clutch pedal bracket... see if its cracked. Hopefully a manual-tranny T100 guy will chime in with more info.

Thanks for the info, my bracket is ok. I am now thinking all I need is a new clutch and to have my flywheel resurfaced.
