Well the new lift should be installed soon BUT

this is freakin me out:

WARNING –– TACOMA LIFTING LIMITATIONS
If you let Toyota sell you a Tacoma with Automatic Differential Disconnect (ADD) - shame on you! These vehicles are limited to approximately 2” of suspension lift. These vehicles do not have manual unlocking hubs, consequently the front axles and CV joints spin 100% of the time the vehicle is in motion. Beyond 2” of lift would put the CV joints on sufficient angle to buzz you out of the cab at highway speeds (not a problem in off road terrain where the speeds are slower and/or the CV joints are constantly changing angle).

I drive ALOT on the highway at 70-75mph - am I going to be getting buzzed out of the cab because of CV noise?

anyone out there running a 2.5" lift with ADD and having problems driving on the highway as far as increased noise?

help!

How about 4" of total lift and no problems.

Of course, I got a diff drop to help with this problem.

i would think a Roger Brown Diff drop would solve this?

get the standard 2.5" - 3" lift that everyone has and then get the 1" diff drop by Roger Brown and you'll be perfectly fine. :)

there seem to be mixed information out there on the diff drop mod; there is no straight answer- some people say it does little or nothing to change the boot angles... - some say it saves tons of wear and tear....the argument can be seenhere

ground clearance is negatively affected

so - I did order a diff drop - but I dont know if I will put it on or not.

Put it on...You'll definately want to. I don't see exactly how it reduces ground clearance, as there is a crossmember even lower...

I have 2.5" of lift with a 1" dd. No "buzzing".

Neil - make any sense?:

Beside that, what harm can it do? Probably doesn weigh enough to have the body lift effect when runnin your truck hard.

It reduces the ground clearance of your skid plate since the diff now sist lower. It's right on the skid plate and you need to get longer bolts for the middle skidplate mounts or just bend the crap out of the mounts with the shorter bolts.

My RB diff drop came with the longer bolts, yes. However, I did not use them, nor did I bend the crap out of my skid plate. Lots of people run these, it isn't a big deal.

Do 4Runners have the same problem? I thought the new Taco was based on the 03- 4Runner but I have not heard anyone talking about this problem with the 4Runner?

Good Times 01-30-2005 08:25 PM

Duc Hunter, I believe he's talking about his 97 taco.
