po770 code
I have a 2001 Toyota 4runner. My nephew is working on it for me. He has replaced the 3 solenoids and fluid. He said it is still giving the po770 code and trying to figure what to try next. Has anyone had this problem?

Shifting or gear/rpm issues? If not, try erasing the code and drive around to see if the cycle tests ok and do not return. Sometimes it can take a bit before the codes clear the memory.

A new torque converter will fix it. The code 0770 says it all when you google it. TC all the way. Invest in a Scangauge to monitor the tranny temps..
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/t...-s-o-s-294937/ But I don't think it's a good idea to get the cheapest TC. I did....got mine from Oreillys 1 year ago and now a noise is starting to be heard. Serves me right for only forking out $140 for a rebuild TC. That means I have to replace it again sometime this coming winter. The good news is I'm getting better at dropping the tranny to replace the TC. I know the dealer TC is #1.....but not sure who else has a good dependable unit. Ken |
