my roommate got the carbon fiber one as a present. I think the shifter is way too high though. if you could somehow chop the shifter down like an inch or two, it would be perfect.

Those are COOL!
Will they fit a '96 with the original shifter (non T-type)?

FirstToy 08-27-2003 10:43 PM

man, those are some cool looking shift knobs on that page!

I installed one in my '99. It does sit a little high ( I had a chopped hurst stick in my old Datsun) but it's at a comfortable driving height. After I put it in, I thought about cutting it way down, I did'nt study the spring so I'm not sure if it's possible. I'd like to one day except I'm done messing with my Runner...into modding guitars now.
I used a butt (crimp) connector instead if the quick disconnect connector it came with...who's gonna take it on and off again? My T bone 'exploded' when I pulled it off, I knew there was no turning back. It helps to leave it in neutral when doing this switch so you have more room...can't shift once the T comes off. I had to retap one of the set screw holes, check your's before you install. You have to cut the OD wire, do it close to the base. If you can, see if it's possible to shorten the stick, it would look beter...good luck.

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but.... ;)

I was checking out the Levoc pedals and saw this:
Levoc Sports Pedals are made of 52s Aluminum and fits almost all passenger cars The HMP (High-grip Metal Pivot) provides comfortable and smooth controls in "Heel-and-Toe" and other high level driving techniques.

Does anyone know anything about such 'high level driving techniques'?
sounds quite interesting...

wimpywade94 08-30-2003 11:26 AM

uh...someone correct me if im wrong, and i dont know that much about the high level driving techniques, but if you come burning into a corner, and slam the brakes then try and accelerate after you get past the midway of your turn, you tend to have slower speeds then if you brake while keeping the revs up using the accelerator, then bomb out of the corner, and also you can slow down faster and make is alot smoother and better sounding when your compression brakeing using the gas pedal to keep the revs up in between downshifts.....

No problemo. I'm not Jason B BTW, he made my mini-page for me and put up his logo...I am a big fan of his killer dash kits and klear lens. Good luck with the install, let me know if cutting the squared shft tube looks possible without affecting the guts in there...I may try it one day...I love chopping stuff! You'll love the way the new OD button has an electronic-click feel to it...
