that's correct, i bought a set on ebay for $75 shipped and i regreted. the light output is ok but here is what i found out, the wire between ballast and bulb is aluminum, not cooper wire, and the wire gauge is reallysmall. i truely believe this part of the wires should be as large as possible because it carries the high voltage current the bulb needed to trigger the xeon gas.


ask gothidkit what kind of wire their kit uses and what gauge, you can get an idea if these are the same as the ebay ones.

How would the group buy work, would one person order it and everyone pays that person, or would there be a number to enter at checkout so that the company knew to give us the discounted price and know we were part of a group? I'm interested just want to know how it will work.

I'm sorry to say this, but those are sweatshop grade kits. They wont last long. Noctorious for one bulb firing, and totally not reliable. You get what you pay for.

take a look at Xenondepot.com now called KBcarstuff.com, they have some German made Pilips HID. it's not cheap but i know couple guys locally swear by it.

In my eyes a PnP HID kit is a PnP HID kit no matter how much you pay. Most companies say there HID's are really good and high quality and they charge out the ass for them and people are stupid enough to actually buy them. But if you look around you'll find a good site that offers them at a decent price. Besides these come with a 1 year warranty, and so far I'm pleased with my kit and paying $110 was not bad at all.

There was a guy on T4R who bought a set of Philips HID and one bulb went out on him. It can happen with any HID kit.



I was tempted to go off Ebay as well but alot of the stuff on there when it comes to electrical is pretty shady.

Different from Ebay? - the risk with Ebay is that it is Ebay. Most HID kits are pretty much the same but there is the exception of very cheap quality ones that can end up on Ebay. Like I said before though...expensive or cheap both can be defective. 1 year warranty helps

Price matching they won't do Ebay but I am working on trying to get another $5 off.

Otherwise this thread is promoting illegal activity. And it's not one of the stupid DOT rules, this one actually creates danger to other drivers by blinding them.

So is anyone going after Cadillac, BMW, Toyota and all the companies with factory HID's because those are plenty blinding when I drive my Camry. And that's why you point them down or create cutoffs.

Secondly who cares what you say, apparently not us.

I love mine... all that matters is that I can see where I am going.

Exactly, I'd say give it 3 to 5 years before every single car comes stock with HID's... halogens will be something of the past.
