EFI Relearn?

I've searched both here and 4runner.org trying to figure out a little problem of mine. I just cleaned my throttle body, replaced the pcv valve and tightened all my throttle body cables. While this was all being done I had the efi fuse pulled. Reassembled everything and fired up the truck, it runs great only one issue, it seems to be idling at roughly 1500 rpms. I backed off all the cables to their original positions but the problem remains, the truck drives fine though. 98 4runner 3.4. Any ideas?

Is 1500 a cold idle or a warm idle? If cold let it warm and see what it drops to, should be in the 750-900 range iirc.
If it drops to that range once warm, I'd say you're fine and give the truck about 100 miles before you think you messed anything up.

That's at warm idle, however I started the truck and only drove a few miles then shut it down, I'll try a longer drive (15 min or so) and see what happens.

There have been multiple reports of this happening, most notably when cleaning the throttle body. Some have claimed that somewhere in the cleaning process it alters the idle and so far the only solution some have found is to go buy a used throttle body. Keep the thread updated with your results.

Well THAT isn't what I wanted to hear! haha Well it runs fine down the road, just idles a bit high when in park. I'm not gunna worry about it too much though, it gets crazy cold here in Iowa during the winter so if nothing else it will just lessen my warm up time in January!

Hmmm, thinking out loud here but what if I inadvertently toasted my IAC valve with the cleaning chemical? Wouldn't that adversely affect only the trucks idle?

Solved!

Ok just an update I found a solution to my high idle problem. It was in fact the IAC on the bottom of the throttle body. I think when cleaning the tb some gunk worked its way down in there and the IAC had become stuck. I removed the IAC, cleaned it thoroughly, and reinstalled it. Problem solved! Here is the link I used as a guide. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f123...ac-pics-92286/ :D

I did the same cleaning you did and mine ran similar. It took a little driving around to get it to self adjust to a reasonable idle.
